Greenup County

The Musketeers are not as bad as most people in Northeastern KY think. They are 2-2 with lossess to Russell and a heartbreaking loss to Raceland. They returned their entire offesive line form last season and are starting to play solid football with young kids at the skill positions gaining experience.

They are not a great team but they aren't a bad team either. This team making the playoffs is something very few would have picked before the season started. Right now they sure look to be heading for a 12th game though.

Any team that takes them lightly is making a big mistake.

I have to agree; while Johnson Central has to be the district favorite at this point (closely followed by Ashland and maybe Mason County), I think the Musketeers will have something to say about the postseason this year. They look to be much improved from last year.

I wil have to include Bath County in Class A. They are vastly improved from last season and could be a team that gives others some problems in the palyoffs.

I know they beat a pretty decent Fairview team last week...Who else have they played and what type team are they..A running team, passing team, little of both, or what..Whats there strengths and weaknesses??

No chance. Not near enough offense to compete in Class AAAA.

They competed with Christian County, PRP, and Henderson County....and didn't need much of an offense to do it. :D

A ... A lot of people have probably written off Somerset after their 0-4 start, but the Jumpers played a fairly tough early schedule. I won't be surprised if they're still playing after Thanksgiving.

2A ... Caldwell County was awful in the opener against Mayfield, but the Tigers have gotten the hang of the Tony Franklin spread offense and have the weapons (in the right places) to make it work. The Tigers get tested the next two weeks, against Trigg County and Fort Campbell.

3A ... Hopkinsville and Boyle County are being dismissed by some after slow starts, but both teams have played tough schedules (Hoptown's is murderous) and the Tigers have yet to put their complete team on the field.

4A ... Ryle isn't getting much attention, perhaps in part because 4A in northern Kentucky doesn't have the greatest statewide reputation. Manual isn't getting much attention this year because they were pounded by two great teams early, but the Rams are playing well right now.

Great point..I almost mentioned them, but, since I limited it to 3 teams, they weren't mentioned..They also may well be a top 5 team by yearend, thus, wouldn't be a shocker to see em in Louisville..

For them to get to papa johns they would have to get past belfry and p-burg which though sheldon clark is good i dont think that they can overcome both belfry and pburg

I think plenty of people "know" about Sheldon Clark...so IMO, no way are they a darkhorse team. They're legit. Middlesboro on the other hand is a team that needs to be watched. They're somewhat off the radar...and by season's end...they'll be diffucult to handle.

Marshall County![/quote

They are somewhat of a sleeper, but, after going 9-1 last year with a good nucleus returning, i'm not shocked they're where they are...plus, they're competition level is somewhat suspect to this point in the season. Mayfield is the best team they've beaten and shouldn't a good 4a program beat a good 1a program...

I wouldn't count out Boyle Co. yet, they may be only 1-4, but a dangerous 1-4. They could be the best 1-4 team in the state.

:thumb: :thumb: I just don't think they are finished yet:thumb: :thumb:

Middlesboro is in the top 10 in the BGP and AP polls ... so is Sheldon Clark. So how is Sheldon Clark a "known" team and Middlesboro "off the radar?"

If you just review the overall postings here on BGP...everyone mentions Russell, Mercer, Belfry, Sheldon Clark, Trigg and Owensboro Cath....rarely...despite Middlesboro's ranking are they mentioned as a favorite. So from that vantage point...I personally think they're under the radar...
