Looks like there's a little problem with the vote on this.

They could just hold it at The Fieldhouse 3 of 4 years (rotating so each school in district gets to decide where to play it on their year to host).

Actually, where there is disagreement and no unanimity on the the site selection issue the district manager submits the site selection form to the Commissioner for his or her decision. My understanding is that whichever site was selected by the majority and best meets the selection criteria I.e. seating capacity, parking facilities, # of dressing rooms, historical financial results, etc. Will be mandated by the Commissioner.

Which should be how "the other vote" should be handled.

Before you try something like this you should have your facts straight.

B) Sites for Play

1) District tournament sites shall be selected by a site selection plan approved by a unanimous vote of the schools eligible to compete in each district tournament. If a district is unable to resolve conflict over the plan, the Commissioner shall establish a plan.

2) Only schools which are members of the Association prior to January 1 of the year in which the tournament is held, and having a schedule of twelve (12) or more basketball games shall be allowed to vote for the district tournament location or participate in the tournament.

3) Criteria to be considered by the schools for the district tournament include but are not limited to:

a) Satisfactory capacity within the facility to safely accommodate

past (five years) and expected attendance numbers;

b) Enough dressing rooms if double headers are to be played; c) An officials dressing room;

d) Adequate parking for projected attendance; and

e) meet the published site selection criteria for basketball as

posted on the KHSAA website.

The atmosphere at Bracken has been phenomenal the last couple of times they have hosted.

Coach Hinson has pulled off a lot of magic in the Igloo. He's beat some solid teams here, I think he will pull another rabbit out of his hat in The Fieldhouse in a few weeks. Too much time for him to be in the lab drawing up a game plan for Bracken to come up short.

Thing is, that vote has to be unanimous, so therefore, the AD's have to all talk about it.

I like Mason better because parking is not a hassle, and the popcorn is better, I don't like the fact that we have to alternate with a small gym, but I guess thats what we get when we have small teams in our district.

So now when I have to park at Straub will Mason bus me to the front door?

I can walk from Straub to MCHS in about two minutes.

And I'm practically dead.:thumb:

I will make this point once again. Montgomery Co. officials were correct in selfishly arguing it was best for their school to host the 10th Regional tournament last year and were able to achieve that through the adopted site selection procedure. They were appropriately concerned only about their program and not what was best for the bulk of the region and fans. As much as I personally hated it, I think those administrators did what was right for their school.

I support Bracken officials crying foul and selfishly arguing their hosting is best for the District. Great gym, bad traffic access, terrible parking, and poor concessions flow are all unarguable givens. But, too, their credit they should do everything they can for the benefit of their program and the rest of the District and their fans should be a distant secondary.

I suggest that The Fieldhouse is heads and shoulders above the Igloo and superior as a permanent location for the 39th. The Igloo's problems are largely not curable. The winding two lane road access isn't likely to change, the single-lane ridge top parking can't be cured without a major financial investment, and the poor concessions flow pattern is one the administration has chosen to employ for years.

I suggest the alternating site of the tournament in the past was a congenial act on the other schools as both a professional courtesy and perhaps a neutralization attempt against some of the powerful Mason teams. Once Bracken's administration chose to bully the two smaller schools, I think congeniality was obliterated and it was easy for them to vote for the unarguable best site.

Now to me, if Bracken can get a hearing before the Commissioner to consider their claim of site selection foul, then perhaps they can make their Seeding vs. Draw case as well.

Can't argue this at all.

A. Bracken is vastly inferior as a tournament site for a number of reasons.

2. Taking their ball and going home was bound to have some ramifications extending beyond this season, and possibly in multiple sports.

D. I've never blamed a school's administration for doing what they perceive to be in their own best interests.

Rotation was never an issue until this season when BC didn't play Augusta or St Pat. St Pat votes for MaCo every time logistics wise don't blame them for that. Augusta may have felt a little butt hurt with the way BC handled the situation with see vs draw so they decided to not vote in favor of BC hosting. If it were only that easy. Has to be unanimous so that vote goes out the window.

Besides the parking issue BC is a great place for district tournament. Gym capacity has never been an issue. Not to mention a packed house with close to 2000 ppl and a close epic tournament. I love the feildhouse but you can't argue with the tournament environment that the igloo can give the HS basketball fan!!!!

The last fun District Tournament the Fieldhouse hosted was in the Maysville/Mason County days. By no means am I saying the Igloo is better than the Fieldhouse, but the atmosphere at Bracken County is just so much better for District. Even with 2000 people at the Fieldhouse it's still empty.

The poll kinda speaks how people feel I believe
