They also had to merge 2 programs from different schools in a short time frame. Kind of makes it a wash. Mercer is tough and will be hard for anyone to handle right now.

I disagree. I think we adults make a bigger deal out of the merger than the kids. Obviously, there are several aspects of the merger, but I'm only talking about football. I'm sure the Mercer County coaching staff is treating them all the same. An Athlete is and athlete. Most coaches will take all they can get.

If Ifs and nuts were candy....Still took an L.

That was an original one.

Of course it helps! Im just saying I think Mercer would be one of the top teams in 2A without the merger.

And I agree.

I never mentioned Russell in this thread so leave me out of your little spat.

I don't have a spat. I started a thread that you insisted on thread-jacking. I am not from Mercer or Boyle and MY team did routinely beat them when I played.

I was told that Boyle is having trouble running the ball. It is hard for the Rebels to line up and get the short yardage when they need it. True?

The offense hasn't, how should I say it, flowed this year as in past years. It has been effective in most games but has not been smooth. Inconsistant play on the line and in the backfield has kept the team from really getting on a roll. I said it last week and I think it still holds true. This team fights very hard and works as hard as past boyle teams they just fail to execute on the level that past teams have. I think their youth has a lot to do with that.

Good luck the rest of the way!!!:thumb:

How did I thread-jack the thread? Read the thread It wasn't me.

This thread needs to get back on track and stay focused on the Mercer/Boyle game.

I agree. Great game Boyle. You guys will get things going. Those kids just need that 1st home game to get things going in the right direction. When you play the schedule they have had with all their games on the road then you are going to take some lumps.

No. And I believe that Russell has the best shot of anyone in the state at beating the Titans but Mercer's offensive and defensive balance is way ahead of anyone in 2A right now. I'm a neutral observer, by the way.

You just said that you haven't seen Russell yet. So, how do you know? They ought to be awesome and thumping everybody in 2A since they're a 3A school playing in 2A. Mercer folk talk like they've already won the ring. You have to get there first and who knows Russell nor Mercer may even get there. You have to respect the other teams in 2A, especially come playoff time. Remember Fort Cambell last year.... Nobody said they could be beat either. You still have to line up and play and anybody can beat anybody on any given day.

I don't really understand the gripe against Mercer about them being bigger than the other schools in 2A. So what. Except when they play each other, T and X have an enrollment that is usually several hundred students larger than their opponents. Sometimes, you just gotta play the game and go on.

Someone asked if anybody could play with Mercer this year. You have to expect a response after asking that.

You play the cards your dealt...move on.

It's easy for you to say but if the cards were reversed I bet you'd have something to say. Hey, you gotta expect that, people aren't happy about it, so they're going to talk about it.

Start another thread for this game if you want.
