January 16, 20179 yr Can't see Louisville being successful. Too close to Indianapolis to draw the Indiana crowd as fans. Lexington fans won't care, and I doubt Louisville fans will either. Personally, I'd love it but I think even Cincinnati is a superior market.

January 17, 20179 yr More NBA teams why? Another good question. The NBA has a fantastic product right now. Adding more teams won't help it IMO. It will take another decade for the talent to catch up. NBA could learn from the NBA, more is not always better. Move the Kings to Seattle and call it a day.
January 17, 20179 yr And would the team go with the classic "Colonels" as the mascot? I think Kentucky Colonels for sure, but I also question whether it would work long term in Louisville.

NBA could learn from the NBA, more is not always better. Move the Kings to Seattle and call it a day. Owners voted 22-8 against a proposal to move the Kings to Seattle just a few years ago. Has anything changed to suggest they'll vote differently this time?
January 17, 20179 yr I don't think the NBA would do well in Cincy or Louisville. I do think that the MLS would do fantastic in both cities though. I think both cities should focus their efforts there instead.

MLS sees itself as the NBA or NFL of soccer and so brings with it a lot of the same problems a small market team faces in those leagues. Personally, I have a hard time with the City of Louisville putting up its share of the relatively inexpensive $15-$20 million stadium they want to build for the USL team we have now. Can you imagine the money they're going to want for an MLS-level stadium? As we have it now, the city's got an independent team that we can work to make better and we don't need someone to shell out an exorbitant franchise fee to MLS owners to join their club and then milk the taxpayers for stadium dollars. To me, all I see in MLS expansion is more expensive tickets and lost tax dollars.
January 17, 20179 yr Yum Center deal makes this a moot point. UofL owns all marketing rights I read as well as they have an agreement in place that gives them a "cut" of any event staged at the Yum Center. If that is accurate, no NBA team us coming unless UofL gives up some control and renegotiates their deal.
