January 17, 20179 yr Yum Center deal makes this a moot point. UofL owns all marketing rights I read as well as they have an agreement in place that gives them a "cut" of any event staged at the Yum Center. If that is accurate, no NBA team us coming unless UofL gives up some control and renegotiates their deal. Agreed. No potential NBA owner is letting UofL have ownership rights to the luxury boxes or scheduling priority for the building. Lots of work would have to be done on that agreement.

However after that the interest would fade quick because people in the state care more about college basketball. For it to succeed it would have to get a star or two that was at UK or UL on the team and the team would have to do well. If so then the interest could stay.

January 17, 20179 yr I think that the fan base could be pretty big. UK and Louisville have ridiculously supportive fan bases, what if you combine the two? Not all would follow and obviously college would always be number one but I can see this state getting behind an NBA team. Call it Kentucky ______ because I believe the rest of the state would be more likely to support. I'd support the team

They'd be in the lottery without a doubt for a couple years, imagine them landing a couple of the UK guys? It'll be new and fresh at first, so everyone would be all in supporting the team. It would be rough talent wise at first, but landing a few really good draft picks can change that.

The downfall could be, they would play in the Eastern Conference where all the competition is for the worst record.

A mediocre to lousy OKC team doesn't sell tickets in Year 3 and we might already be talking about the Las Vegas Thunder's chances this year. I agree that it could succeed. I don't agree with those suggesting that it requires having UofL or UK players on the roster. Put together a winner and peopl will pay, plain and simple.

Would you buy season tickets? No, but I'm not the target for pro sports franchises anymore in that I'm not a rich suburbanite or a major corporation. I would definitely buy like a 10-game package or consider splitting a season ticket package with a group.
