Obama was a perfect storm. I loved Ta-Nehisi Coates' swan song ok the Obama presidency that was published in The Atlantic last month. Basically talked about how his optimism about the essential decency of white America toward black America (an optimism that the author doesn't share) made him the perfect candidate at the perfect time to become the first black president. If he was any kind of man other than the way he was... he could not have won.

 

And that is exactly right. Cory Booker doesn't have a chance in hell because he didn't follow that blueprint. People can say what they want but in order for a black man to become POTUS he absolutely cannot upset the apple cart and Obama was smart enough to not upset it until after he got elected. The worst part was that he didn't want to upset the apple cart and didn't try to upset white people on purpose. It happened organically.

Two terms. He'll do enough to reduce prices on key necessities and other such things short term to be fairly popular.

 

By the end of his second term he'll ensure that a Democrat will win. The right Democrat will win in an historic landslide.

To answer the question, Trump will likely win a second term unless the replacement of Obamacare is a colossal failure.

Your post makes a lot of sense but do you believe he will be able to control himself enough in the first term to win a second term? He shown time and time again that he has zero awareness of how to play the game. It will backfire on him eventually.

I haven't seen anywhere where Trump has spoken as about any Black politician until attacked first.

I'm still yet to see anything that Trump has done since being elected that is racial toward anyone.

Republicans made up their mind that he was a race baiter the day the Henry Louis Gates thing happened his first year. The reality is that he rarely mentioned race at all unless thrust into things by the news and when that happened, they pinned it all on him, even though he never really drew on any of that historical context for black anger that would've been perfectly understandable.

 

It's like granddad said on "The Boondocks" when Huey said he was just telling people the truth... "Huey! What did I tell you about telling folks the truth?!?"

Read up on Andrew Jackson. He did not have modern media to convey his words and actions, but I believe he made some outlandish statements. Plus he beat up an assassin with his cane, when the assassin's gun failed to fire. Need to add that he killed a man in a duel over a comment about Jackson's wife.

This is a good question. A lady that sits on a city board with me wants him to be impeached before he takes office. I think the tweeter-in-chief will last longer than William Henry Harrison. It wouldn't shock me if he is not the President four years from today. In today's crazy, highly-inflamed, grotesquely-divided society, I think the risk for an assassination attempt is not trivial. Also, I can't imagine this man not doing something that brings him to the brink of impeachment. Also, I could see him resigning the job in the midst of scandal or when it becomes clear to him that this job is more than just running a scam university or inserting tic-tacs before meeting women. I'll say he lasts longer than Garfield but not as long as Kennedy.

What will be interesting is if the media inflates some minor issue into a major scandal to try to bring Trump down and it sticks somewhat...will the R's bail on him or stick up for him. He cannot be impeached with the make-up of Congress unless many R's bail on him.

 

IF the R's bail on him and he would be impeached, the R party would implode. The Trumpists would bail on the R's so fast, their heads would spin.

 

I would not be surprised if after 4 years with no scandal, that Trump may decide to not run and have Pence run. He will be 74 then and may want out if he thinks he has gotten done what he wanted done.

Debatable. Either way Trump has zero respect for anyone and the fact that he has to respond to each and every one of his critics is weird.

You left out the second tweet. Where he said "all talk, talk, talk and no action. Sad."

 

Too bad he couldn't be presidential and offer to do what he can to help his district overcome the problems that plague his district. I mean Obama never did anything and folks who back Trump have claimed that he will do more to help the black community than Obama ever did. Well, there's a chance right there where could have come out the bigger man. Instead he again lols childish. At some point he is going to have to rise above. It's just weird that folks love this kind of behavior from a president.
