Is it closer from Holy Cross to Thomas More than it is between Holy Cross and Holmes? Not that it really matters (relatively short distances either way), but just curious.

Was HC still using Holmes' field for free in the most recent years they used it? I want to say they did for years and that was one of the reasons those around Holmes were upset when HC said "no" when approached about splitting the cost of turf to cut back on maintenance costs.

 

Holmes has been extremely generous and fair to HC over the years if what I have been told is indeed true. Maybe you can shed some light on the issue from an HC perspective.

Turf is starting to be rolled out. After over 90 years of use, I'm glad to see Tom Ellis Stadium getting polished up a little.

I am not privy to all the details of what is going on in the minds of the individuals involved. I am also not one to gossip or go into major speculation if I don't know the entire story.

Ahh, that's right. It's been 4 or 5 years since I watched a game at Holmes last. Well in that case, I would have to guess a scoreboard is definitely going there.

This is great for Holmes. Now the Bengal Tigers will play some of their games there and help get more kids involed in football at Holmes.

I found those photos interesting. What street is that in the background? If it's Wallace, I'm thinking a rotation of about 10-15 degrees would have my old place in the picture. Used to watch Holmes games from my backyard skybox sometimes.

That is the story I hear as well. I think I also heard that HC no longer uses Meinken for baseball either. I'm sure someone else could clarify that.

On that end of the field in the picture Jim, pretty sure you're seeing the back yards of the houses that front on Sterrett.
