Open Job: McCracken County

Wow didn't know that. I thought at one time Redland was bigger by quite a few students.

It was in the 80s and 90s.

They also haven't given themselves a chance to compete with Louisville schools, it's hard to be a good team when you have a different coach every other year. If they get a good coach who will stick around they could be better than they have been.

I think this is the best job in WKY. I disagree that they can't compete with the Louisville schools. I remember people saying Christian County would never beat the Louisville schools and win a title in 4A.. Well they ended up winning 2 4 titles and almost got a 3rd one but lost to X in a snow storm.. It can be done with the facilities they have and the support they get from the community there's no reason they shouldn't. They have speed and size.

I agree. They haven't proven yet that they can compete and win against Louisville schools but I think with the right coach it can be done.

Moving relatively slow for a fairly high end job. Any movement? Names? Have they set approximate dates?

The best job? Not so fast. Nice facilities and community support is crucial but you have got to good players and players that buy in. This is whole different animal than 4A with the Lone Oak bunch. Lets see the thinking if MC goes year after year without much playoff success. Will the community and the players still buy in?

There are some names out there.. but I think most are being quiet about it.

Best job in WKY huh.... Then put your money where your mouth is... Not arrogantly, but I mean make it where the new head coach can be given some incentives (summer camp money, booster club money, fundraising, heck mow his yard)... I realize it's not a Zillion dollars, but it something more than Muhlenburg County does....

Because if we are here same time same channel next season this will be worse...

Stability is missing at McCracken County...

Put a stability clause in his contract... IF he stays 3 full seasons he gets X...

A serious component to all successful teams is long term coaching stability:

2016 State Champions:

A - Beechwood - Tiger Coach Rash since the 2006 season

AA - Christian Academy Louisville (CAL) - Coach LeFors Centurians Coach since the 2011 season

AAA - Belfry - Pirate Coach Haywood since the 1984 season

AAAA - Johnson Central - Golden Eagles Coach Matney since the 2004 season

AAAAA - Bowling Green - Purples Coach Wallace since the 1996 season

AAAAAA - Trinity - Shamrock Coach Beatty since the 2000 season

Of course you can't win the Derby on the back of donkey either, but great coaches inspire....

They cause the BUY IN... I'm not asking for great if I'm a Mustang fan; I'm asking for stable - get the kids to want to play for you and take it from there...

Three years.... Or BUST...

I think they thought they had their guy in Jackson, but can you blame him for moving his family near a facility that can give his son the best medical attention he needs? And it's surely a nice pay raise. Can't blame him for taking it and can't blame McCracken for not being able to keep him.

He's seems like a professional job hunter to me. Eventually he will get to a stopping point, is this that point? I doubt it.

I would say the family gets tired of moving. And it gets to a point where their voice outweighs the coach's voice and something has to change..

I mean, ultimately, wouldn't anyone take a job that offered them significantly more money? People want to pretend like coaches are the only disloyal people in the world, yet most people would jump at a better job if it was only for better money.

I don't fault anyone for taking more money, improving their situation. Throw in medical issues? Not even remotely would I look down on that.

And, couldn't most people working in any field be labeled as a professional job hunter? Is it a bad thing to want to move up, even if that means moving on?

I have been told by a good source that the salary McCraken County has already offered a well known coach is Very sizeable and should not be any issue that someone would want to come and be coach there.

Very interesting how this hire is evolving...

If you look at it like then you won't ever have stability in your program. These programs hire you but if you always have feelers out then I classify you as a professional job seeker not a coach trying to build a program. I don't see Jackson by what I've seen on paper as someone who is that loyal. You can sit here and try to justify it as helping his family and maybe he is but it doesn't change the reality that he moves around way more than most. Jackson had a job offer last season and now this, you can't tell me he wasn't looking constantly . Maybe he saw that MC wasn't going to the power house program he thought and couldn't build his resume up to the stature he wanted.

If I was MC I would want to know that my coach would more than likely be around for awhile unless something very unusual happened.
