I don't see how saying that I don't have a problem with the UN telling Israel to obey international law equates to a)being against Israel and/or b)being FOR terrorist states.

 

You don't allow your allies eneimies to gain a moral high ground. If they are a friend you talk , this resolution did nothing to further peace talks. If anything it set them back. Just read the things coming out from Palestinian leadership and the attacks that happened following in resolution in the name of the "illegal occupiers". There is nothing Illegal with what Israel is doing. They won that land in war provoked by another country.

Not familiar enough with Israel or this topic to give much of an opinion, but I am of the belief that we as a nation spend entirely too much time and energy involved in things that we should probably stay out of.

 

I've been a strong advocate of revisting foreign aide across the globe and keeping more money at home. But Israel is one of the few outliers to me , their existence is to important to global stability. We should be stopping aide to all countries who are not friendly to us .

I'm just not a big fan of the growing anti semitism across the globe. It's even showing up on college campuses in this country. I don't want to embolden that train of thought.

Israel was Jewish until the Ottomans took it over in around 6th century and laid claim to it. In the late 19th century when the British took the land then the Jewish people started coming back.

After WW2 the UN officially recognized Israel and was supposed to create a Palestinian state but didn't due to the Muslim countries attacking and not recognizing Israel it just never happened.

I understand the history. My point being is that Palestine has never been a country. Jordan occupied this disputed territory prior to Israel. Israel after being attacked took the land and occupied it to stop future attacks. The attacks have not stopped. How is it in Israel's interest to give up the land people were attacking them from.

Again, Egypt has withdrew it's resolution after a few phone calls from Trump... Four countries have said they will move ahead with the vote but they don't have the clout to make it pass anyway..

Egypt withdrew but the Netherlands and Senegal moved forward as sponsors of the bill. Israel claims to have proof Obama adminstration orchestrated it behind closed doors and will present the evidence to Trump when he is sworn into office.

Remember , the Palestinians are unliked by everyone, including the Arabs. They have never had a state and they couldn't be trusted to keep one running if they had one. I am old enough to have seen the Israeli states rebirth in 1948. They have fought ever since just for their existence. Without us, they would not exist for long. The West Bank was a "spoils of war" they did not start ,but finished. When they gave settlements up and gave productive land to the Palestinians as an act of good faith it was torn up and made barren.

I've never been of the belief Israel was obligated to give up any land. They were attacked in 1967 and claimed the land after winning a war and occupied it to protect from a future attack. Jordan held the land prior and has given up any right to the land. As long as terrorists have large roles in Palestinian leadership you cannot take them serious.

 

I also saw someone mention all Palestinians are not Muslims. This is correct there are Christians . I work with a woman who is Eastern Orthodox Christian and her entire family was driven out of their homes by these terrorists.

 

Israel is a nation of a Jewish majority but also has Christian and Muslim citizens.
