Congratulations Cole. I have never seen that statistic kept in high school basketball, but I did always find it enlightening that Pete Rose said that of all of his records, he was most proud of the fact that he played in more winning games than anyone else in baseball history.

Does Bowling Green have all their players? Someone had mentioned in a recent thread that they would be scary when they got all their players available. Just wondering if their team is at full steam.

BG folks will say BG. CCH folks will say CCH. I think if I am BG I am concerned about this loss, this margin and how it happened. Chances are in order to win the Sweet 16 they could see CCH or Trinity at some point. Fortunately for BG it is December and there is plenty of time to continue to build as a team.

Like I said in another thread, it's pretty difficult to win a state championship in December. Take your lumps, learn from it & get better...

I wondered why it would be any more difficult to win a championship if the only difference is outside weather and the different month. Because your disadvantages are then just offset by your opponent. But there is a significant challenge and that is motivation. The December tourney is nowhere near as important to teams (especially the common state contenders like Trinity and BG) as the State tourney. That's my theory of course.

Only other player in recent history to win 100 or more games in the 9th in a 4 year span as a consistent varsity contributor was Arrez Henderson of Holmes.

2005-2006- Upset in 1st Round of Region Tourney (19-9)

2006-2007- State Semi Finalist (25-11)

2007/2008- State Runner Up (34-3)

Overall- 102-30

 

Johnson Brothers/Pittman went 95-11 in 3 years as varsity starters at Holmes with a state runner up (34-3) , state championship (36-2), and loss in the 9th region finals (25-6).

 

Cole is definitely putting himself in an elite category. Kid is a winner.
