Tupac is not rock. He's a rapper, and rap is not rock, in my humble opinion. But it's their HOF and I suppose they have a reason.

I don't understand how a group like ELO has to wait so long, yet they get enshrined at the same time as Tupac?:idunno: Rappers are inducted into the ROCK HOF why exactly? As stated above, it's not my hall, so they, whoever they are can vote for whoever the feel I guess.

 

I'm not dissing Tupac, but ELO is one of the greatest and most influential music groups ever. How/why they have to wait so long is beyond me. Yes is in the same discussion. Journey should have probably been in much sooner as well.

Absolutely...Jeff Lynn was/is one of the most influential musicians/producers/all around musical geniuses of our life time, and he was the driving force behind ELO.

I have 0 gripes with this year's class.

 

The precedent for rap acts has been set with Grandmaster Flash, Run-DMC, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, and NWA all getting in. And as more rap acts start becoming eligible, that's only going to increase. There's no point debating their merits at this point, it's happening regardless.

 

Should vocal groups be ineligible? Michael Jackson or Madonna? What's the cutoff of acceptability?
