My position is, if the only way Cousins can be the centerpiece of a franchise is that he has competent ownership, a great support staff, etc., then he is not a guy you want to build your program around. No situation is fully harmonious. Franchise centerpieces help bring that. Not saying he should win titles in a dysfunctional situation, but to me that is nothing more than an excuse. You would think at some point, the dysfunction would be prevalent but some positive results would come of it. The Kings' best season with Cousins was last year at 33-49, good for 10th in the West. The reality is, Cousins is a big part of the dysfunction that exists. Most have known of Cousins for 8 years. If I had a nickel for every time I have read/heard, "he is a good guy, just misunderstood"... I would have a lot of nickels. He does appear to have a big heart and all of those warm and fuzzy things, but in this same 8 year period his volatility level has not wavered.

I get your point, and Demarcus deserves plenty of blame; however, Sacramento's organization is a dumpster fire and has been for many years. That is not Demarcus' fault.

If he went to a stable organization with some decent leadership (from the top down), I think he would flourish and mature. If I'm San Antonio 100% yes. A dysfunctional place like Sacramento, no.

 

 

There is no leadership and someone to standup to him. You have a situation where the inmates are running the asylum here IMO. He can do/act however he wants.

Absolutely. A change of scenery into a stable organization with true leadership could work wonders for him and his career.

Not saying he is but you could certainly make that argument.

Cousins is a Hall of Fame talent, but will never reach that unless he decides to get control of his emotions.
