Look at the past couple of years with different tournaments that the schools have been in

 

SK has been playing in the LexCath Tournament since I think this is 5 or 6 years maybe even longer. Which is traditionally an invitational, tournament with huge exposure to college programs, SK is in one of the biggest tournaments in the state this year with the LIT,

 

I don't see where you would even think of there is no exposure difference at. As for your other comment I don't know what type of exposure MC has done with Harney, I am sure she has already gotten offers on the table,

 

But what you are describing is completely insane Playing games that make your team better and getting out there in the view of other programs is what you fight for.

Just take a look at SK's Schedule besides conference, region, and district games that they have to play who do you see on their schedule, Other top programs from around the state, They play the Mercer Co., Sacred Hearts, Elizabethtowns, Scott Co.'s. they don't schedule it safe and build the record up. The prepare for a run for the state tournament.

 

Dude, Nope not kidding you. If you think she'll get a better scholarship because she went to SK vs Scott, you're crazy. Going to SK vs Scott will have zero impact on where she ends up.

 

Secondly, is it possible if a kid of her caliber went to Scott, that Scott may have played or been invited to play in some of those events instead of SK?

 

Highlands has played in those. Great tournaments and fun. And there may be some scouts there. But again, they aren't there to discover kids. They know who is there and they go to court them.

 

Again, it's the kid that draws the scouts, not the coach or the program.

 

Didn't Scott just beat them not too long ago?

 

And a lot of teams schedule tough. Look at HHS (which is lighter than usual this year), Ryle, mason county, Campbell co. Don't act like SK is unique in that manner. Again, no different than several other schools.

 

And I would add that they have to schedule that way because their region has been down for a couple years now. So telling me what they've won in the recent past really doesn't tell me much.

 

And lastly, have seen Scott's schedule? Some could argue it's as tough or maybe even tougher than SK's!

Unfortunately RCC9 is correct for girls basketball. Outside of AAU there is little to no college recruiting. College coaches show up at high school games (big "invitationals" or regular games all the same) because they are courting a prospect. College coaches discover and become interested in girls between April and September. College coaches are way too caught up in a their own seasons to give much effort to recruiting during the school season.

 

A team like SK (or a big "invitational") does not draw college coaches because of the head coach or the school name there. They come completely to court and watch a player they've already decided they have an interest in.

 

You are correct though when you talk about a team like Simon Kenton and their effort to take on bigger teams in bigger tournaments to improve themselves this has nothing to do with recruiting however. That is about improving the team and getting ready for a run at the state

I have to agree with RCC9 also and its on the boys side also, Bob Huggins came to Holmes three times, two years ago, but he was coming to see James Bolden and it was not a random visit because Holmes was playing Covington Catholic or anyone else, just seems to be the nature of the beast anymore.

It happened right after he walked on the floor, I guess I see as a lack of respect to the JV team when he could have easily walked behind the bench like everyone else.

I guess so cause we all know that you have so much room to walk behind the benches at SK so should the SK people get angry when the visiting teams fans walk in front of their bench to find a seat, or walk on the floor in front of the table.

Two. NCC fans need to stop the whining. You got handed a dose of your own medicine, get over it. Maybe in the future SK should hand out boxes of tissues to NCC fans at the front door.

 

Three. Parents want there kids to play for Coach Stowers and that knowledgeable staff and I can't blame them. There aren't any participation trophies handed out at SK. If that's what a parent wants for their child than send them to play Upward. Coach Stowers is a life coach not just a basketball coach. The best players will play regardless of where they were born. Gilliam is a perfect example, if her and her parents handle her demotion correctly than it will only better prepare her for the real world. She's an exceptional student with a future that shines far brighter than anything than can be achieved on a HS basketball court. I guess the coaching staff at SK should start looking at girls birth certificates and start denying certain girls the opportunity to play based on years of service in the program. Is that what you would want for your daughter if she moved schools?? I'm guess the answer is no, you want your daughter to be treated equally.
