Watchmen
They still had starters in at the end of the game and the one was the leading scorer for them, so I would need someone to explain that to me. I walked out of gym for a few starting the 4th qtr. cam back in with a little over 6 minutes to play. 4 players on the floor were all players that do not play significant minutes. There was no press and bailey was running point. The other four players on the floor are not ball handlers. They are bigs, so the coach leaves one player in to handle the ball. That basically leaves one of the players that start. I too would have left Harney in as she is still learning SK system and could use the extra work. Not from a skill standpoint, but from a program acclimation. Smart move on the coaches part. Can't emphasize enough, sk did not press late in game. However, as ncc subbed it played into sk hand as ncc struggled stopping sk's bits in the post because they had a very tall team on the floor. That I think contributed to the score as well. I know it's frustrating losing by that much. But this was a typical game that just clearly got away from ncc. If I'm sk. I tell my girls to play hard. I think it's worse when you say " rebound that ball but don't shoot the layup ". That bothers me a great deal. Just like football. Run between the tackles and if you can't stop that I can't help you
coachforlife
They probably do need time to play together, since it is like an AAU team. Kids from all over trying to develop chemistry. I dont think there is one out there in the 8th region this year, but I am rooting for this year's Trimble.

My understanding too the budget was cut this year so the staff couldn't bring in all the kids to play together all summer. Seeing is how they are from all parts of the country. (sarcasm). I will say though its funny how comments like this come about. I can't think of one kid that lives outside of the Kenton County School district. Wait.... no never mind. There isn't one. Not one single player.
Watchmen
According to KHSAA box score, 8, 9, and 10 took a total of 3 shots and made one for the game. Rest was 1-7 rotation. Field Goals (2pt and 3pt) Jersey Player Field Goals Made Field Goals Attempted Field Goal % 33 Bush, Rachel 0 1 0.0% 35 Chenot, Macy 0 1 0.0% 45 Dressman, Briana 2 5 40.0% 23 Gilliam, Kendyl 3 7 42.9% 22 Harmeyer, Shelby 3 8 37.5% 24 Harney, Bailee 6 11 54.5% 15 Jones, Maggi 3 8 37.5% 44 Meier, Madi 6 7 85.7% 25 Niece, Allyson 5 10 50.0% 10 Waite, Gabrielle 1 1 100.0% I'm not sure what this proves...? There were 10 eligible players to play varsity last night. Your proving that 7 of them did the lion share of the scoring??? If your trying to prove something on disproportional play. Maybe post minutes??? Maybe that doesn't sell what your hoping everyone to buy? Were you at the game last night?
coachforlife
Deny, Deny, Deny. But do me a favor......count the ones that did not live in Kenton County for a year prior to starting their basketball careers. Can you think of one now? Hmmmmmmmm...... I am glad it is like it is........just makes Trimble County victories and trips to NKU sweeter!!!
Watchmen
My last comment because this thread is funny. One person fires something out and of course this an evil team now. There were 10 eligible players to play varsity last night. 13 on the roster. 3 hurt: Buckner, Stamper and Vickers 5 started. Meier, Niece, Jones, Harmeyer, Harney. (Gilliam has started last 2 years but Harney was tabbed last night) Off the bench: Gilliam, Bush, Waite, Dressman and Chenoite ALL players played in the first and 2nd halves. You clarly see that you don't have a lot in numbers to go to if you want to go into your bench. At least two girls will be on the floor that have seen significant minutes. There is no way around it unless you play with 4.
8th Region Warrior
Love Gilliam's heart and defense, been a starter (2) years and now a sub, I hate it for her as she has won a region with Simon as a starter. One of the reasons why I hate new kids arriving, unfair to the ones who have sacrificed, she will be fine because she is a great kid and teammate

Ok here are the minutes from the enquirer Bush 8 Chenot 9 Dressman 7 Gilliam 18 Harmeyer 23 Harney 23 Jones 21 Meier 18 Niece 24 Waite 9 So primarily the girls who did not play in the jv game played their game then was subbed often with the JV players, also more minutes were relied on them due to having 3 other players out with injury Stamper and Buckner then with Vickers getting injured in the JV game those minutes had to go somewhere Edited December 13, 2016 by TellItLikeItis Re quote
coachforlife
8th region warrior.......not one kid has "arrived"........they all live in Kenton County. Thats what it says a couple posts above.
laceup
Also with SK changing the starting lineup it's what is you look for in your team, play with the lineup early in the season and see where it goes. I bet when Buckner comes back from injury and gets a couple of games under her belt someone else is going to lose a starting position. Harney maybe??? Jones???? Harmeyer???? The only 2 for sure starters for right now are Niece and Meier, the other positions are play for it or lose it from what I can see and with talking around with some of the SK people
CAP
Ok to clear some things up a bit this is from my view subs were checking in all game but as for the 4th quarter subs were at the table at 6min mark of 4th and there was no stoppage till around 4min mark. Plus 3 JV players that dress varsity were injured so there would have to be at least varsity players on the floor to make 5. As far as the JV coach walking on the floor, he called timeout before he left the bench, closet ref signaled but players kept playing. Bad officiating caused the whole walking on the floor on both ends fouls were getting a little excessive and the officials were not protecting shooters. Harney in the game to work on running pg and no other reason. Don't forget she is still new to this team and they are still figuring out what roles she can fill last night was to see if she can run the 1. The JV players out scored the varsity in the 4th and that was without pressing. Wouldn't have been considered running up the score if NCC would've scored. SK up 28 when at 4:30 mark in 4th, JV did NOT press and ran offense, got stops and extended lead to 40. NCC also had 4 starters in the game till under 3min would you want your jv players going against varsity and get embarrassed ask that. As far as the whole coach stowers coming from the stands no one wants to say this so I will. After the JV coach had his say with the official and started to walk away from him the Official then went after the JV coach very aggressively not letting the Coach to be able to talk to his team during the timeout that he called. So he came out to defuse the situation with his staff and officials now that's a HEAD COACH Why say something if we want are not going to speak the whole truth. Shm!!! OK well guess because you say it its the truth, we will let everyone go with that, the ref made the mistake by not giving him a technical and no one should come out of the stands and the truth why didn't you mention your head coaching during the game walked on the floor in front of the NCC bench guess you missed that or didn't want to tell the whole truth. CAP
I also saw Coach Stowers come down and IMO he defused the whole situation. Both JV coaches had the right to be upset with calls, the refs let it get out of hand and girls were getting hurt. You mean all the elbows.
