November 11, 20169 yr Anyone knew where I can do some research on similar things for this holiday season? I'd like to do something this year for a family that needs some help around the holidays. Last year I waited too long and everything I found was over with.
November 11, 20169 yr I don't know where you live, but most schools have these. I choose an elementary school in Covington for my donation. I would ask question. You want to go to a place if you donate money that takes the family shopping not give them the money. Most however have gifts with clothes sizes or toys. If you want to donate to a school PM me and I'll give you ideas in NKY or your area. Many churches do these also.
November 11, 20169 yr We always do this through our church, I'm not sure if you goto church but you could probably stop by one local to you and get some info.
November 12, 20169 yr Hammertime you are awesome, love this! Another idea is to check out the freestore/foodbank website. It has various Holiday volunteer opportunities… and so easy to sign up. Our family is doing one of the events together, something I’ve always wanted to do – so just finally did... LOL So excited!

You want to go to a place if you donate money that takes the family shopping not give them the money. Most however have gifts with clothes sizes or toys. This is very similar to what we do via our church. We "adopt" a family (anonymously) and we are given gift ideas. We go buy the gifts and wrap them, then turn them back in. I would suggest checking with a local school or church. On the church side of things, Plum Creek, The Bridge, or Main Street Baptist are three in your area that I can just about guarantee will be doing something.
November 13, 20169 yr Here, we have Metropolitan Ministries. They cloth, house, and feed as many homeless as they can. They also run a "Meals on Wheels" program to assist shut ins. I donate at Christmas every year.
November 13, 20169 yr St. Vincent De Paul Society is located everywhere. They support the needy 24/7.
November 13, 20169 yr Something you might consider in lieu of giving... A couple of years ago, my son and daughter-in-law started volunteering at homeless shelters in Orlando at least one day during the Christmas season. Last year they started taking my granddaughter with them and when Rock-em Sock-em is old enough, he'll assist as well.
November 14, 20169 yr Shop with a Cop program takes money year round. Police officers take under priveledged children shopping for a Christmas gift. You can donate at any police station.
