Still Wrapping My Head Around This

Featured Replies

In the past 8 or so years on BGP and other online forums as well as talking heads on TV we have heard much of the following regarding the profile of a good POTUS.

High morals

Governing experience along with real-world experience

Military background

Unifier

Conscious of the debt

Christian

Pro-Life/Anti-Planned Parenthood

So last night we elected

A cat that's been married 3 times

Said horrendous things about women

Jokes about walking in on beauty contestant pageants to catch them dressing

Played to the fears of people that are different to a portion of the voting public

Has a wife who posed nude in sexual positions with another woman

Has no real history of being a Christian

Said Planned Parenthood has done some good things

Has hosted dinner for Pro-Choice organizations and claimed for a long time to be pro-choice

Never served

Never governed

Has a tax plan that will increase the debt

What does this tell us?

We all rationalize. As long as our side wins we'll overlook transgressions. If we lose we'll hang our hat on those things.

We are a psychologist's dream patient.

That collectively a lot of Americans think the alternative was worse.

That's what this entire thing is about...as bad as one was, many look at the other one as being worse.

No reason to over complicate it, that's it in a nutshell.

Our other choice was worse and the powers that be limited the exposure off other potential options. Wasn't like we weren't voting for someone. My guy lost. I didn't rationalize, but a lot of people felt that they had two bad choices.

Yes we do.

"Have you ever gone a week without a rationalization."

Too simple. There are a lot of people that believe he is THE candidate regardless of who was on other side? Why? Because he's going to make America great again. Heard a guy today say that he can't wait to see how soon he starts collecting overtime pay for building cars that are going to now come back to the US.

Plenty of people voted against HRC. Don't kid yourself. A lot of people voted FOR Mr Trump despite years of saying that a person with his background would not be right for POTUS.

Can you imagine Sean Hannity if the wife of a D posed nude with another woman? His head would explode. Did he mention Melania? Nope.

Sometimes it is that simple, it's not like his opponent was a person of high virtue and he was selected over her anyway. She was as flawed as any candidate in recent history. Trump did speak of bringing jobs back and if some voted for that, then why not.

I have a feeling that no matter what is said, you'll never get your head wrapped around this election. As you probably thought there was absolutely no way that you and 538 could be wrong and that she would have it wrapped up by 10:00p.m.

I didn't understand the appeal of Bernie Sanders but his supporters were as fervent as any, I would have struggled to understand how a Socialist could have been elected...it would have never made sense to me. Just as Trump winning makes no sense to you.

We had a POTUS "serviced" in the Oval Office and used same service person to hold a cigar for him.

Nothing really surprises me after that.

Crushed. 538 is gonna cause nervous breakdowns. The Silverman is to blame. He has kidnapped some for sure. @Hellcats escaped though earlier and now back on the loose. :)

PS. This is a joke. I do like @Hellcats . Gotta respect someone who never waivers.

Clyde the citizens spoke at the polls, Hillary lost, Donald won. There are no do overs, the election has ended, so whatever you are trying to say is of no use. Donald Trump is our President, at least for the next fours years and no matter why he won or why the citizens of the United States voted for him , the 45th President isn't Mrs. Clinton. it is Donald Trump.

A lot of salty people after this election...

In reading some news articles Clinton easily won the popular vote.

So again if every vote really counted/matter, the result would have been different.

Look again at the popular vote. It was very very close. Here is a link to it in real time:
