November 10, 20169 yr In the past 8 or so years on BGP and other online forums as well as talking heads on TV we have heard much of the following regarding the profile of a good POTUS. High morals Governing experience along with real-world experience Military background Unifier Conscious of the debt Christian Pro-Life/Anti-Planned Parenthood So last night we elected A cat that's been married 3 times Said horrendous things about women Jokes about walking in on beauty contestant pageants to catch them dressing Played to the fears of people that are different to a portion of the voting public Has a wife who posed nude in sexual positions with another woman Has no real history of being a Christian Said Planned Parenthood has done some good things Has hosted dinner for Pro-Choice organizations and claimed for a long time to be pro-choice Never served Never governed Has a tax plan that will increase the debt What does this tell us? We all rationalize. As long as our side wins we'll overlook transgressions. If we lose we'll hang our hat on those things. We are a psychologist's dream patient. We elected someone that is just like every other citizen in the country, thats all.

November 10, 20169 yr That collectively a lot of Americans think the alternative was worse. That's what this entire thing is about...as bad as one was, many look at the other one as being worse. No reason to over complicate it, that's it in a nutshell. There were about 15 other candidates running under the Republican Party and after all said and done Trump was their choice. Considering the things that Clyde has pointed out that Republicans typically stand for, not one of those 15 aligned more closely to that? They pick the one who least aligns to that and now claim they had to vote for him because they didn't like Hillary. Wouldn't it stand to reason that Trump wouldn't have gotten this far to begin with if Republicans had followed through by electing a candidate that more closely aligned to their values? The perplexing thing that Clyde is trying to figure out is why, and I'd have to agree that it's a pretty good question.
