I don't think you can only win 1 game in your 2nd and 3rd year anywhere. Bourbon beat them a 5 win 3a school. Only win was against a very very bad Montgomery co. team. I to say them play 1 game this year and they only had about 35 kids on the sideline, not good for 6a. So what is the problem there?

Let me preface this by saying I am close to the program but am not a parent. I believe Riddle is a good coach. I don't believe he had parent, player and school buy in. Clark county is different than anywhere else I have ever been around. They are a large school(6A) but they town has a small town mindset. They want someone who has ties to Winchester. Shows up at all the town events and other sporting events and be a hometown guy. As for rumors here the town is full of them. Who knows just want to see those kids succeed and some level of success

I have heard the same for many years. Your arguement backs the middle school coach moving up which has been rumored as well.

Any news at GRC? Where are they in the hiring process? Any favorites for the job?

This might be an apples to oranges comparison, but here it goes. Both of these schools are 6A & the only school in their county. GRC's enrollment is 1652 to Scott Co. 2467 a difference of 815 students total. Total male enrollment for Scott Co. is 1215 & for GRC is 833 for a difference is 382 for the current 2015-2016 data. I can't see back past 2002-2003 but The male enrollment was much closer back then GRC 704 to Scott Co. 882. What does this mean? Nothing really, but I just wanted to crunch some numbers & look at them to compare as numbers don't really mean everything to how good or bad a team is going to be.

 

Looking @ GRC & Scott Co. from 1990 to the present its pretty interesting:

 

1990-1999

GRC overall 60-54

Scott Co overall 54-53

 

2000-2009

GRC overall 59-54

Scott Co. overall 85-36

 

2010-present

GRC overall 16-50

Scott Co. overall 72-11

 

Jim McKee took over in 1997, went 7-4, 9-2, 4-6 & 5-6 in his first 4 years. Wonder what would have happened if the parents woulda came after him after back to back losing seasons there?

 

Sounds like GRC needs to take a chance on letting someone install a system & build it up, they might be surprised in the results.

 

Scott county has three middle schools , so you have 50-60 freshman a year who have played middle school and believe they will play varsity football.

 

I believe clark county has 1 middle school so your numbers have been destroyed before the kids get to the high school campus.

 

It's a no win situation for whoever gets the job.

For what it's worth, Meade County is a fellow 6A school that's almost the same size at GRC and they only have one middle school (Stuart Pepper MS). As you know; they have managed to play some pretty good ball over the years.

 

But, I totally understand your point and it's more than valid.

No. Chase got out of the college rat race. He has been in Georgia the last three years. In 2014 he was at North Gwinnett with Bob Sphire, and the last two years he's been the Offensive Coordinator at Glynn Academy over on the coast. Last year they were beaten in the 6A (or 7A) State Finals. This year they made it all the way to the Region Finals.

 

Shawn Jackson (current HC at McCracken County) was the OC at Glynn Academy...when he left for McCracken; Chase took over.

 

They've been gashing people the last two years in the run game. I can't remember if he started doing it this year or when he first came to Glynn Academy, but he adopted Wofford College's "Wing Bone" (Gun Triple) and they were ripping people this year. Chase's former teammate at Danville, Nathan Fuqua, as you know is the Defensive Coordinator at Wofford.
