I wish Cooper's season would have gone a little better as there is no way Dante Hendrix should not be in this conversation. I understand why he isn't though as Cooper finished 6-4 but he has the stats on both sides of the ball plus lifetime award he has good numbers as well. I know he won't win but I wish he would get the recognition he deserves and be on the finalist list.

From a lifetime standpoint, if he were to have a decent playoff playoff run he has an opportunity to finish in the top 10 all time for receiving TDs in the State and he currently has 16 career INTs.

I totally agree, and I think he should be a finalist if not win it, (obviously a little biased as well) but I think the fact that Cooper is not among the state's "Elite" teams that it will hurt his chances. The criteria speaks for itself outside of him playing for someone like Trinity or someone like that. I think if Cooper has a strong run in the playoffs with a few "upsets" then there is a chance.

Reggie was good. Reggie was a starting wr before and I believe wildcat qb. Mr.Football does not sit on the bench as a junior.

Playing QB has been called the most difficult position in sports and for a QB it can depend on many factors not starting until your senior year. It can be about maturity (physical and mental), opportunity, health, etc. This kid has gotten his opportunity and is clearly killing it at the highest level. It should not matter if people outside of shamrock land heard of him or not or what he was doing last season. How is he doing this year and is he deserving to be in the mix are the questions and to me the answer is yes he is.

I was only making a case for Spencer to be in the conversation and be considered a finalist. His accomplishments this year IMVHO have earned him that. Don't really care what happened last year. What happens in the voting for Mr Football is a whole other issue.

So a kid who is at a solid (arguably the best) program in the state should be penalized because he only starts 1 year?

 

Mr. Football is supposed to be the best senior player.

 

All that said Spencer probably won't be a finalist for the reasons stated, in my mind that's wrong but I don;t get a vote.
