Too early to know. I don't think he'd return to Garrard County but if he can get the help he needs and can turn his life around then I wouldn't be opposed to seeing him return as a teacher and coach.

Just for the record, the reason drug prices are so high for Epipens and any other drug for that mater are the PBMs. While manufacturers like Mylan play a part of it as well as many others, PBMs are very near the heart of it all and often collude with manufacturers with backdoor dealings to keep some drugs on formulary and others off to keep their market share. If you can fix the PBM problems, that will fix a good portion of the drug price problems. Pharmacists have been pleading for years and saying PBMs have been the reason drug prices are soaring but its never been addressed on any level. FYI this is coming from a pharmacist.

 

As to your other question, there is a Narcan registry that the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy is putting together so patients can search it to see who the closest pharmacy is to them that stocks it but you can buy it with or without a prescription. Price will vary though. I work for Kroger and at least for now the Narcan programs has only been rolled out in the Cincinnati and Lousiville (Lousville, Lexington, and as far east as Stanton, Morehead, and Richmond) divisions. Other Kroger divisions that have not rolled it out yet so much of the southern and western portions of Kentucky don't have it rolled out yet at their Kroger stores but its coming.

 

And our policy is that whoever is requesting it we will run it through their insurance. We have only sold a couple but insurance has covered it every time and the patient has paid nothing. I would imagine it would be similar for other insurance plans as well and if they don't cover it then I'm sure it would be a PR nightmare for those insurance companies given the gravity of the problem right now especially in our area.

Sorry I thought I stated that in my reply but apparently I didn't. PBMs are Pharmacy Benefit Managers and they are re basically middlemen between insurance companies, employers and the employees, and pharmacies.

On one hand, I believe you only have one shot when it comes to guiding kids and if you abuse that privilege you should be done. However, it could be used as a teaching moment that shows even the best of us can fall victim to our vices if we abuse them. If he was to come out of this clean, it could be used as an example that there is a 2nd chance in life if we really want to change.

Do we know that he abused the privilege? Do we know that he did drugs around students/players or while he was responsible for them?

In my mind it does not matter. He is to set an example to those he leads. And yes, in my mind, he abused the privilege to lead a group of young people.
