October 20, 20169 yr Just stop it! Tired of paying for a bunch of lazy butts that won't do what I did. No excuses. None! Get a job, go to school, or learn a trade. live within your means. Where is my free stuff? I guess it went away when I joined the employed. Shocker! I don't mind paying for roads, police, fire, gov offices. But not for the free loaders in society.
October 20, 20169 yr If HRC wins, I will be beating the Free College Drum every day!!!! What do we want? -Free College When do we want it? -Now!!! What do we want? -Free College When do we want it? -Now!!! What do we want? -Free College When do we want it? -Now!!! I'm not for Mrs. Clinton or her agenda, but getting Free College in place in the next couple of years (before the fall of 2019 to be precise), yeah selfishly I'll support that. :lol2:

I hope we elect Bernie next time for that very reason. In all seriousness we got some screwed up priorities when we don't want to educate our society more, yet are ok with the criminal justice system in the shape it's in. One is begatting the other.
October 20, 20169 yr Everyone gets free college. Everyone goes to college. Now what? All we hear today is all of these college grads get out in enormous debt and can't find a job. Where are all the jobs for college grads going to suddenly come from? Great point. This generation just wants the free handout. They'll worry about the jobs later.

October 20, 20169 yr My idea would be a two/three year required mandatory work study program. Now I am not saying military but working for the government in some way shape or form and when I say mandatory, I mean mandatory, meaning the richest kid in town got to do it too.

Free tuition would be a wasteful program. The amount of money wasted by kids that start and don't finish college is staggering. Create a program that forgives the tuition after the student graduates and I could be for this, but I still believe that having some skin in the game motivates kids to finish. Otherwise, the college dropout rate would get worse. Also, covering Tuition isn't "free college". Free tuition would still cost a student $12,500 a year for room and board to go to the University of Kentucky. The entitlement expectation of college age kids is very scary for our country. HRC saying "free college" is a borrowed lie to get votes. Students who go to college and drop out should be held accountable for all costs, not tax payers.
October 20, 20169 yr I had someone run the numbers a few months back on how much it would cost taxpayers if free college provided. I cannot recall what he came up with, but it was a staggering number. I came to the conclusion that it will not happen without the national debt skyrocketing more than it already has the past 10 years. The national debt may be the biggest threat facing the county, but no one in Washington wants to be the one to lay it on the line and tell the truth that the only way to get in under control is to control is to cut spending and increase taxes. They are all too concerned about their next election instead.
October 20, 20169 yr How do you make it more affordable without raising taxes? A start would be with the Federal Gov't stop raising the amount of Federal aid that they hand out. EVERY time they announce they are increase the amount of aid, within 2-3 weeks a majority of colleges and universities announce they are raising tuition. If they stopped giving aid out period, would colleges and universities be forced to cut tuition costs to get bodies in the door?

October 21, 20169 yr Let me be clear. I am not a proponent of free college. I am interested in finding out if it is possible and how. This was done in California, the largest higher education system in the world. California Community Colleges System - Wikipedia California now provides free college for about 65% of the students in the system. They are looking at making it free to all residents. Free tuition proposed for community college students
