Jumper_Dad Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 Sitting waiting for the Somerset Homecoming parade I got to wondering...how many schools have a parade through the city streets for Homecoming? Ours includes floats based on the yearly theme made by each class, each member of the HC Court individually, cheerleaders, football team, some other teams and the Briar Jumper Marching band. It leaves the High School proceeds downtown, stops in the middle of downtown for the fight song to be played and cheerleaders to cheer, then proceeds through town to the middle school. It is a great tradition and I'm glad my kids got to enjoy it the same way I did 30 years ago. Any other schools doing this?
Clyde Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 Conner still has one. I used to see Dixie with a parade on Dixie Hwy. Not sure if they still do that or not.
B-Ball-fan Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 Holmes has a yearly homecoming parade around the surrounding streets of their campus that takes them through Wallace Woods and so on.
UK#1fanisback Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 SK still has one on the day before the game.

I didn't see anyone that appeared to be nominated by each club/organization. Did I miss them? At Conner's parade you have the student who is nominated by a particular organization in the convertible representing that org. Is that how SHS does it?
Cats3x Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 At West Carter we have the team, band, cheerleaders, middle school teams, youth teams, soccer teams, and homecoming court. The band marches and leads the parade. The parade ends down town at the old train depot with a pep rally.

Girls are all from Senior Class...they were in the convertibles...not tied to specific club or organization. Nominated from senior class instead of organizations. The nominees are spread throughout the parade.

Warms my heart.

Kids work all week after school on them...for the lack of time spent they actually are pretty creative.
Lawnboy13 Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Bellevue still has one, it's a big to do in Tiger town.
Mustang Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 Brossart has recently completed our first "annual" Homecoming parade. It too had floats created by the individual classes, with an Around the World theme. It also included the Grand Marshall, a few other dignitaries, the homecoming court nominees, the pep band, a fire truck etc., etc...... The parade progressed up Jefferson Street to Main Street turned left to Washington street and then proceeded north to Bob Miller Stadium. I was SHOCKED but the huge turnout that lined the streets for our first-ever parade event.
maysvilleky Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Mason County started doing it last year. Wish it would be a little better organized. I like they are doing it, but I think the Homecoming court nominees should all be together.
