October 2, 20169 yr USA locks up the Ryder Cups Congratulations!! All that is left is by how much! Edited October 2, 20169 yr by 16thBBall Fan
October 2, 20169 yr A birdie barrage today. Little rough to speak of and easy pin placements. It will be interesting to see hoe Team Europe sets up their course in 2018.
October 3, 20169 yr A birdie barrage today. Little rough to speak of and easy pin placements. It will be interesting to see hoe Team Europe sets up their course in 2018. I would almost guarantee you we won't see such short rough.
October 3, 20169 yr The atmosphere this weekend was absolutely electric. Loved seeing the crowd get into it, and how the players reacted. I can see how some traditionalists would maybe not appreciate it, but as a "younger" fan I absolutely loved it. Keep in mind, they received "minimal" payment, (admittedly don't know what the payout was, but have heard it is relatively small compared to other events), so to see the players as jacked up as they were was refreshing.
October 3, 20169 yr If golf allowed that type of atmosphere for all events, the sport would be insanely popular in America. Such a fun environment. Patrick Reed may be my new favorite golfer. Dude is a beast.

Dude is a beast. To this post and HOG's just above. Reed said in an interview that the players can act differently in the Ryder Cup, and he - and both of you - re correct. It's a crazy fun atmosphere.
October 3, 20169 yr Lots of fun to watch this weekend. But, I will tell you that the guy who I'm most impressed with, is somebody that didn't hit a single dang shot...Bubba Watson. To get passed over in making the team, and still coming on his own to root on the USA and be there for the other guys? That's just completely unheard of in today's me-me-me-world. Well done, sir. Well, done.
October 4, 20169 yr Ryder Cup was awesome. Patrick Reed is the U.S. version of Ian Poulter. Just a different player at the Ryder Cup. He has never finished in the top 10 in a major but is one of the best, if not THE best, player in the world when playing for the USA. I loved it when he and Rory bumped fists and patted each other on the back after the insane exchange on the 8th hole (and the few holes before). I think they both realized that it was getting a bit out of hand and thought it best to tone it down. How about Sergio and Phil? Both shot 63!?!? What!??! Phil had 10 birdies. Just crazy stuff. I actually felt bad for Lee Westwood. I was shocked that Darren Clarke picked him on the team and was pretty certain he would hurt the Euros. He simply cannot putt any more and cost the Euros 2 or 3 points by missing really makeable putts. Actually in the singles matches, not one player from the UK won a match, which is remarkable (Rory, Justin, Willett, Westwood and others)... It will be interesting who captains the next team in 2018. I am sure they want Love again but I heard he is not interested.
October 4, 20169 yr Also, I am not sure how much the whole "task force" thing really meant. It really comes down to putting. The U.S. putted really well this week. Maybe Phil said what needed to be said after the 2014 Ryder Cup about the lack of player involvement. I STILL totally disagree with his timing of doing so...throwing Tom Watson under the bus at the press conference concluding the Cup.

Pap's peerless prognostication - the 2018 venue won't be set up like that. 65 or 66 will be as low as anybody goes in singles.
October 4, 20169 yr Soft greens, no rough, pins in the middle of the green. Pap's peerless prognostication - the 2018 venue won't be set up like that. 65 or 66 will be as low as anybody goes in singles. The rough, or lack there of, was the main reason. The US guys don't drive it as accurate as the Euro guys so Love made sure they had the rough short. I'm not sure it would have matter on the pin locations. The US seemed they really had the putter working.

Well, done. I agree it was really cool. However, I've heard Bubba is the biggest horse's rear-end on tour. None of his fellow pros like him apparently, which could play a big role into why he was passed over.
October 4, 20169 yr I enjoyed watching that whole deal for 3 days more than any other golf event I can recall.
