Roughly 17 weeks. I was injured in a fall and broke bones in my back and neck. I had to wear a brace that somewhat resembled a turtle shell. I couldn't get the brace wet, and I wasn't allowed to get out of bed unless I had the brace on (which was an ordeal all to itself). Sponge baths just don't get you very clean. I had a friend shave my head so I wouldn't have to worry about not being able to wash my hair. You cannot even imagine how good that first hot shower felt.

12 days. I went on a canoeing/camping trip through the Everglades. Taking a dip wasn't really an option since there are an estimated 200,000 alligators in the everglades. We took rinse-less body wash with us, so I wasn't 100% "unbathed" the entire time, but I'll definitely agree with BigV that a shower never felt so good by the end of things. Our whole group joked that the park rangers had to have smelled us coming when we went to check back in at the end of things.

Yeah, I'm good overall. Still have some pain in my back from time to time, some days worse than others, but in the long run I was very lucky. I had fractures as high up the spine as C7. Several medical providers have told me that I am lucky that I can still walk, etc. The biggest permanent issue other than residual pain is some loss of range of motion in my neck, which makes it hard to back up in a vehicle, but otherwise doesn't affect me much. Overall I was blessed.

I honestly can't think of a time I have gone over a day and a half without a shower.

I took showers during the ice storm a few years ago. I would crank the generator and take one.

A month in Afghanistan.

Nine days back when I was going to WKU and living off-campus. Big ice storm hit and froze pipes in my apartment. I waited as long as I could stand it before trudging up and down the hill in the snow a good 2 miles to go to a dorm and shower.

 

If I recall correctly, I knew one of the people working the desk at the dorm I chose, because I'm pretty sure I looked (and smelled) like a homeless person at the time. Likely would've raised some suspicions otherwise.

Was friends with a guy, we played softball together back in the day and he told me about a guy he knew and fits this thread perfectly.

 

When he was younger my buddy worked in a rock quarry with another guy that he described as "massive"...and maybe not all there upstairs if you know what I mean. Said this guy would load eight 50 pound bags of lime dust, four on each shoulder...by himself...and load a pickup truck. That I would like to see, but that's not the story.

 

So as I said guy wasn't all there upstairs according to my buddy. He lived in a shack with a hole in the corner of a room that he used as a bathroom. The guy told my buddy he took one bath/shower a year, if I remember correctly it was right around Christmas time, maybe Christmas eve night. Now, maybe the guy went swimming in the creek in the warmer months and knocked the dirt off of him that way, I don't know, but my buddy said he stunk to high Heaven and he knew he didn't clean anywhere near a regular basis. Bath once a year...:puke:
