Reports are out the Pat Riley is saying that Chris Bosh is done with the Heat and that his retirement is up to him.

 

It appears blood clots will prematurely end Bosh's career as he recently failed a physical to come to training camp with the Heat.

 

I've never been a fan of Bosh but he was a pretty good player and I hate to see his career end because of something out of his control. I've never heard of an athlete's career cut short because of blood clots.

Not sure if it played a roll as to when he retired, but I think Olajuwon had a similar problem during his career as well.

You could tell the writing was on the wall with how slow the Heat were to ever activate Bosh.

Always hate to see an athlete have to end a career when it isn't on their terms. Sucks.

Hate to see that. Bosh is a little quirky, but overall seems like a really likeable guy. He's well respected around the NBA.

Nice career and the $118,705,300 guaranteed will make it a little less painful to retire.

I would think he would have been put on an anticoagulant regimen. If he has, and he has been told he'll be on it for a long time, he'll always run the risk of bleeding very easily even internally. If you have had a couple bouts with clotting issues you're usually put on coumadin forever. Also, I think he has had a couple of DVTs in his legs. Those tend to move, break apart, travel and could affect other areas of your body like legs, heart, lungs and brain. If he has had numerous bouts with this, he should retire. I's not worth potentially having a heart attack, stroke or death.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say any NBA star whose health is familiar to the 50+ demographic, probably won't be an NBA star much longer. I hope I'm wrong.

I hope he's smart and retires. Sucks, but he's had a great career. 2 championships, multiple all-star appearances.

I've been pretty sour on the NBA ever since the Cincinnati Royals brought in Bob Cousy to be player/manager. In my mind Cousy was brought in to squeeze out Oscar Robertson and make it easier to move the Royals.

 

And I agree with your 50+ demographic statement.

I hate to see this as he went from the man to the 3rd man while winning a few rings. He totally changed his game from his Toronto years without any public complaints. I don't want to see him on the court if it's a major risk. They had a foursome for those big pharma commercials, don't want to see it becoming a duo.
