For those of you who have seen Mercer....

Well when Boyle co won their AA title before being moved up to AAA I guess it was hard for them to accept the trophy. What other team is in the same county as Russell? I guess people around the state have to have somthing to talk about, but as long as our very small community here in little central ky are excited then that's all that matters. I'm done talking about this too. It gets old on this side of the screen as well. We arent the first and wont be the last to merge. See ya in the playoffs.

Russell's school district is actually in two counties, Greenup and Boyd, and includes the cities of Russell, Flatwoods and Bellefonte. Most of it is in Greenup County(Russell and Flatwoods), which would include Greenup County High School(AAA) and Raceland High School(A). The other part of the district (Bellefonte), is in Boyd Co, which has Ashland(AAA), Fairview(A), Rose Hill(A) and Boyd County High School(AAA).

Maybe we should combine all seven of these schools into one school and call it Fairview so we could remain in class A. :sssh:

Just kidding about that last part.:thumb:

Yea this is not fair I wish the would do this to Frankfort/Franklin co/

Western hills.

Are you saying that you would like to see these 3 schools consolidated??? They'd have to build a mega-size school building if they did.

Mercer would have a playoff road as follows, I think:

Wk. 1 - #4 in your district, provided you win the the district,

Wk. 2 - Newport

Wk. 3 - Louisville area/Etown

Wk. 4 - Fort Campbell/Owensboro Catholic/Western Ky

Wk. 5 - Championship game, probably the favorites in each district (4, 6, 7, 8) are Russell, Corbin, Breathitt/Middlesboro, Belfry

Well since Russell is in multiple counties then maybe Mercer can re-Merge with Danville and boyle and move to 6A and compete with T and X.

Just kidding about that last part as well.

Either way you look at it that will be a tough road to travel.

Yes they can and they will. They are a good football team. They are big they are fast and they play hard. Thye have all the toolds to win it all. Now will they we will just have to see.

I think that the question is CAN Mercer run the table? They definitely have the horses to do it. The second question that have most people in an uproar is WILL they do it?

Actually the second week would be another team from their district, not Newport because of the new playoff format.

I think Newport is in their district.

I think Newport is in their district.

I realized this after I posted it and changed my post. Thanks.

I don't think that anyone would deny that the addition of the former Harrodsburg students gives Mercer an advantage. Give most teams what these athletes from Harrodsburg and from Mercer bring to the table and it will do the same.

I would like to see Mercer run the table. I would love to see these two schools (one a city school and one a county school) come together and win the state. That is just a feel good story.

That's huge. It sounds like we have a chance to make it to the carpet for the first time in the Titan's short history. But they have to play there way there. We may lose a couple of games, who knows? But I think they will make a serious run. Farther then ever before for Mercer. Here is to hoping that corey and brandon run HOG wild all the way to Louisville.

That would mean they would have to make the state finals. The Mercer County Scotties made it to the A semi-finals in 1986 but fell to Heath if memory serves. I think Larry French was the head coach of that squad and a young Chuck Smith was his assistant. :thumb:

No backfield is unstoppable without good blocking up front. I think this discussion is still open.

This Backfield is as about as close to being unstoppable as you will see this year. As far as speed and depth is concerned there isn't a deeper nor faster backfield in the state. But, like you said you have to block.

Yes, I remember. I was a young lad. I'm hoping for the state finals.

I know that Mercer has a very talented backfield. But its not like its Walter Payton, Earl Campell, Jim Brown and Barry Sanders back there.

I said they were probably the deepest backfield in the state. And, I can't imagine a faster stable. If Mercer's O-line does a good job blocking you can't stop them. The top 4 returners have 4,500 yards between them. And their are alot of young and promising backs as well.
