September 22, 201610 yr Most police officers do not respond to a report of a stalled vehicle and three exit their vehicle with a weapon drawn unless they perceive a threat. Rocket suggested in an earlier post that the fourth officer did not draw because he was the "hands on" or cuffing officer because they anticipated a fight. Maybe this comes from prior knowledge of dealing with this guy and they know he has a history of being armed and fighting officers, according to the article posted on here by someone else.
September 22, 201610 yr Took a guy to jail about a month ago for what was essentially a heroin related DUI. It wasn't until he was being processed in jail that they found more heroin on him. It was in his wallet wrapped up in a receipt, in a pocket of the wallet that couldn't be seen without completely emptying the wallets contents. What I'm getting at is checking for a gun can be done in a few minutes. Checking a person and an entire vehicle for drugs is a much more tedious process and even then things can be overlooked. It seems odd to me that they can search thoroughly enough to find a gun and not find any drugs at the same time. Especially if he is a recreational user and not distributing. It seems like if you find one then you'd find the other as well. I see what you are saying though. It just seems odd to find a gun and not the drugs during the same search.
September 22, 201610 yr I'm not against the past being used , not at all . But if level minded adults using their common sense cant see a difference between resisting arrest with a weapon and serving time in prison VS being accused of harassing phone calls to a ex boyfriend's girlfriend I don't know how we can ever have sensible debate over anything at all. And if the offending officer is always given the benefit of the doubt because of the victim's rap sheet then you are right. We can't have a sensible debate about it.
September 22, 201610 yr Ok . How would you equate the seriousness of the past charges that were not only accusations but tried and found guilty of the guy Vs the cop ? VS the several of the charges that were dismissed VS the cop . I guess you could riot over the guy in Charlotte having a book in his hand VS the gun the police retrieved , because the police are always hiding something and cant be trusted and the family said it was a book - correct ?

I see a guy with a drug problem and a lot of arrests as a result. Am I missing something?

I guess you could riot over the guy in Charlotte having a book in his hand VS the gun the police retrieved , because the police are always hiding something and cant be trusted and the family said it was a book - correct ? What does his past have to do with that one incident? The riots and looting ruin the discussion on Charlotte for me. The only riots I was fine with in my lifetime were the LA Riots after the Rodney King verdict. The recent riots ruin the conversation and it is impossible to have a sensible discussion about that incident.
September 22, 201610 yr I brought up the past of the two involved because NBC ran a piece that was widely circulated that painted a very false narrative . And sorry about the Charlotte crapola - I would hope you certainly don't approve.

And sorry about the Charlotte crapola - I would hope you certainly don't approve. Everything I've read says he had a lot of issues in his past and was trying to turn his life around. I read the NBC story. Not sure what "very false narrative" was being painted.
September 22, 201610 yr The Whole " bad dude" statement was brought up time and time again painting a picture that there was some evil racist intent of the police force . It turns out the guy was a bad dude . There was nothing incorrect about the statement . I guess we can argue how the pilot knew the guy was bad news , but it doesnt change the fact that the guy was indeed , a very bad dude .
September 22, 201610 yr You think it accurate to portray the guy as a " peaceful church going man" with a rap sheet like that ? With no mention of his long and lengthy run in's with law enforcement ? That work from NBC is OK with you as being accurate ?

What am I missing that made him a "very bad dude"? Also, let's mention that they said he looked like a bad dude. They made that judgement based on his appearance, not off of his record.

September 22, 201610 yr Is this not considered violent ? Crutcher had been arrested in the past. In 1995 in nearby Osage County, officers said they saw him fire a weapon out a vehicle window. Records show Crutcher was ordered to exit the vehicle for a pat-down search and began making a movement to his right ankle before an officer managed to get control of him. A .25-caliber pistol was found in his right sock, according to an affidavit.

September 22, 201610 yr It was dismissed, was it not?doesnt mean it didn't happen. Prosecutors drop lower charges all the time to focus on bigger ones
