September 18, 201610 yr Whether you like Drew Barker or not, if that was his last chance at starting at UK then I feel very sad for him. He has busted his butt since Jr High to get to where he is today. It was always his dream and he worked hard at it for years. While he was in HS he would always workout before school everyday and again after school all year long to perfect his craft. I feel bad for anyone that puts in all the work needed to fulfill their dreams and then finally after waiting in line for 3 years see it come to an abrupt end due to either injury or playing ability. I really feel bad for him if that was his one chance. I can't imagine that would be his last chance. He has shown ability, just needs to get more comfortable in the pocket, which is not always easy when you are the UK QB, but more experience will help and will also tell whether he can be a big time QB or not. I for one, hope that he can be.
September 18, 201610 yr I want UK to start the guy who gives them their best chance. Right now Johnson deserves the next chance to start. However for people acting like a game against a team that even Vegas thought UK would win by 20 showed how much better Johnson is for this offense needs to realize that. We have no idea how Barker would have done. Right now everyone still has the Florida game in their memory of Barker because that is the last game he truly played. So it's easy to say yeah Johnson is better for this offense. Johnson looked very bad against Florida's defense too until Florida's second string came in. It was just 2 weeks ago when everyone was high on Barker. Things change quickly once you play better teams. Johnson does deserve to start though the next game, and if he truly does keep doing well then that's great for uk though. Not everyone was that high on his performance. He had a good half. He also turned it over 3 times and led zero scoring drives in the 2nd half. He's already turned the ball over 7 times.

However some of you had made comments like obviously Johnson is better for this offense. Well this was the worst team they played so far, and the team they played didn't get to prepare for Johnson. Does Johnson deserve to start, yes. Does he fit this offense better based off of one game against a bad team unprepared to play him, we don't know yet.

I really like Barker; however, woodsrider, I disagree with your comment. Our O-line has been so unreliable that Johnson adds another running back option that Barker cannot. Just limits the defenses options and as we saw allowed Conrad to get involved in the passing game.

Great point coach he is much more agile and can scramble when protection breaks down a lot better than Barker.

I really feel bad for him if that was his one chance. Boston College will be looking for a QB next year. Sad that Drew got hurt, I hope it isn't serious.
