Kurt Young is the new basketball at Mercer County Senior HS. Great to have you Coach Young as a Titan and congratulations to AD Donald Smith on a great hire!

Finally official. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do. Lot of potential present for Mercer County this year with Trevon Faulkner and current seniors.

This is outstanding news!

I know Kurt has yet to prove just how good a hire this is, but from everything I've read, it certainly appears to be just that.

Mr Smith is on a heck of a roll with these coaching hires. He should be commended on a job well done! GO TITANS!!

His biggest task will be finding someone other than Trevon who can score the ball.

Can someone give any background on Coach Young. I always like to hear where they have been and what they have done previously.

That is a lot of places. He would give Curtis Turley a run for his money on different places he has been.

He's definitely seasoned.

Congratulations to Kurt and to Mercer Co. This late in the school year, Kurt is an awesome hire. He has been a lot of places and has done well at just about all of them. Heck - he won a ton of games at Thomas College. You NKY folks will remember Troy Fryman from Conner - he played for Kurt back then.

He was with Happy at Gtown so there might be more "move ins" lol.

If you ask he and Kelly about their time in Hawaii they both say that it's different when you're not vacationing there. They never felt accepted.

I wish Kurt nothing but the best. He will push those kids and get a lot out of them.

Removed a joke because I'm sure it would have resulted in the thread being shut down.

Kurt is a good hire I actually coached him in elementary and high school he is a great guy and a good hire. He is a basketball junkie, he eats, and sleeps basketball look forward to watching them play this season. Noticed their schedule for this season wished they were playing Anderson Co. and Lafayette again this year but they are not.
