Conner could have easily won this game with a little better play calling on offense. Conner has a heck of a defense and you could tell that they wore SK down.

Congrats to the Pioneers. Nice to see Matt Shearer getting time at QB. Playing behind Racke has to be difficult but the Coach obviously knows what he is doing by platooning them. Would be interesting if Shearer wouldve stayed at Highlands. I think he could clearly start at QB anywhere in NKY.

SK only gave up 6 points the second half. While Conner gave up 17. SK played horrible fumbles, penalties, missed tackles and still found a way to win. One thing I noticed in the second half was every other play a Conner kid was cramping up. At one time 2 Conner kids where getting thier legs streched out at the same time on the ground.

I believe to many kids playing both ways.

SK is the only NKY 6A school that has the numbers and overall depth to be able to platoon which gives them the edge over the other schools. Ryle is getting there but Conner and Cooper cant without a significant drop off in talent. Don't know if they will ever get there because as the population grows in Boone County they will just build another high school.

Conner is much improved over last year and they played their guts out. They will make that district very interesting.

It seems like it didn't take Cooper long to be successful. Maybe they didn't realize they were running ahead of schedule when they were making those deep runs in the playoffs. Maybe they were just trying to do what they could with what they had before that next high school got drawn up......

I don't buy this. It taking the time to develop the talent and making sure you don't have a huge fall off. You can't tell me there aren't enough kids or talent to platoon. You either buy in to it and do what it takes, or you don't. Nky (other than SK) has not bought in to it. That's why they can't. Those schools are plenty big enough to platoon. And if you don't have enough with the size of those schools, then it a different issue. Much smaller schools than those find ways to platoon of the want to.

 

To platoon, programs need to stop worrying about MS, freshman and JV championships and develop the talent when you have a chance. You can't wait til high school to set your program up to platoon. Again, you either buy into it or not.

It's not a reality that's unique to Boone Co. They have 4 high schools with football teams. Kenton Co has 3 public high schools but that's not accounting for Ludlow, Holmes, Beechwood(all Independent) and Covington Catholic and Holy Cross which are private. You've already shown your hand.

Not what anyone is saying. I'm saying that the numbers do not support your contention. Maybe they just don't have enough talent to platoon.
