I know last year they did. So for anyone (RCC) to make it sound like its the norm to platoon, well they just don't follow high school football very much. BTW, HHS has more players than most teams also.

And IF they had two-way players last year, that's one year out of 10 or so. So I would say it's the norm for them.

Platoons at the high school level makes absolute sense. Having the means to create those platoons isn't something that happens overnight. There are a handful of NKY schools that get it. Yes, 2 way situational players sometimes needed with exceptional athletes.

Is Highlands not smaller? And I didn't say "that doesn't have two way players" occasionally. I said platoon. If you are playing 13-18 kids only on offense and defense that's much different than occasionally playing two ways.

 

Where in the world did I say big school equals great players at each position. It has NOTHING to do with having great players at every position. No high school team has great players at every position.

 

That's the difference! Some coaches want their BEST players on the field all the time. Some develop enough kids to not have to play the best players all the time to be successful. There are tons of players at schools that platoon that are superior athletes that never see the other side of the ball. Again, you either buy into it or not. I'm not saying it's what every coach wants. I'm saying you can't tell me there aren't enough athletes there to platoon. It depends on how you want to use them...or develop them.

 

But you haven't answered my question. How do schools smaller than 6a platoon? I didn't say just in NKY.

Any team with at least 22 players on the roster can platoon RCC. Question is, do you want to win or do you want to give participation trophies out?

 

I haven't read anywhere that Cooper and Conner etc don't have enough players to platoon. I have seen as well as I've said, they don't have enough good players to platoon without the chance of winning. Again, until you know the difference we will just have to disagree.

 

I did did answer your question. I said majority of teams have 2 way players. I am waiting for you to list all these schools you talk about that have no 2 way players.

Wouldn't it make sense that when fielding a team if you have a larger pool then the chances of better athletes also increases? Sort of like throwing your money for the lottery in an office pool. You can buy your own ticket but having your money thrown in with 40 people increases your chance of winning

It doesn't bother me at all. To each their own! That wasn't the discussion whether I thought teams should platoon. I am saying don't tell me you CAN'T platoon with that many kids. I'm saying you could if you wanted to. Could care less who does and doesn't.

Platooning worked this year for their one win!

Or people have moved on to other topics that could have effected this game. This is still about Conner.

My only point, if Conner and Cooper wanted to platoon, they could. If they don't, that's completely fine! I don't care. But saying they can't...I don't buy it. That's all. It's for some coaches and it's not for others. I don't care who uses it. You guys are acting like I'm condemning those two schools for not platooning. I could care less!!! But they could if they chose to. It just takes some work and the willingness to change the program. It's a transition. It's not for everyone. Some coaches want their superstars on both sides of the ball the entire game and some develop other kids to sustain success. That's it.
