:isurrender:Friday night had to be a low point in the short history of this program. The incredible lack of discipline ( 5 turnovers, sideline player entering the field negating a TD) shows a lack of toughness and attitude. A year of such promise is suddenly spiraling out of control. Die hard John Hardin fans were streaming out of Bulldog stadium with five minutes remaining and in the words of one fan " the game is horrible, I have to leave, I cant take it any more". My personal opinion is that a change needs to be made in the leadership of this program sooner rather than later. There is NO discipline and the attitude of the team lends it self to self destruction. As a long time follower of the John program, it has hit rock bottom and needs new life breathed into it.

I will give my opinion after the season. But regardless of what happens, losing to a North Hardin you are better than is unacceptable. IMO this season is already tarnished because of this loss.

Totally hypothetical here, say JH has a major turnaround come district time and gets on a hot streak through the playoffs and somehow makes it to and wins the state title. Is the season still tarnished because of an early season loss to North Hardin?

This make not make sense, but yes and no. If by some miracle some semblance of discipline is miraculously instilled in this team, and they win the state title, than overall the year is a success. But losing to your biggest rival, who you have more talent than and should have beat, is unacceptable to the level of program JH should be. No matter what JH does the rest of the year, they still lost to North Hardin.

i think what's most disheartening is the lack of discipline and leadership. Coupled with the fact that this team isn't as good as originally thought...makes for a long year. Make no mistake this coach Lewis's fault. That culture didn't arrive until he took over. That was a bad loss to an average at best NH team. If JH wins a stae title that's an indictment on the poor play of Kentucky ftball

He's in his 4th year as the HC at John Hardin, with two state semifinal appearances under his belt and a region final. They've lost to a BG team that is arguably the 2nd best team in the entire state and their 6A rival from a couple miles up the road who has talent out the ying yang themselves.

I think part of it is how they lost. They beat North Hardin in every statistical category except the most important one. Points on the scoreboard. By all accounts the lack of discipline is why they lost.

 

Now, in my own personal opinion and without watching the game I know that JH is still young and to an extent inexperienced. It is early in the season and some of the best teams in the state are struggling with discipline right now. If the things aren't fixed by season's end and JH doesn't meet South Warren or have an expected deep run in November then I'd understand the angst. Week two is way too early in a season to want a coaching change. Their issues can be fixed and based on what I know expect them to be fixed. They have a great coaching staff at JH. I understand the emotions of losing to a hated rival but they are in two different classes. The outcome of that game shouldn't affect the whole season at all. The Boyle-Danville game outcome never tarnished either one's season. There were always bigger goals for the season.

Brother, that's not a top tier 6A team. That is a one man gang...Bankhead. JH continually marched down the field and continually self destructed.....discipline and leadership

I don't want to take anything away from those kids at North Hardin. They played extremely hard and conducted themselves exemplary. BUT THE OFFICIALS in that game should be disciplined. There were numerous questionable calls and non calls in that game. It may have been the most bizarre game I've ever seen in person

Wasn't John Hardin only penalized something like 5 times vs Bowling Green? Crazy thought. But I'd be interested to know the comparison between their penalties on the road vs at home and/or in Hardin County. It might be something worth keeping up with.

 

The 2-3 personal fouls the other night were 100% on them. But the linemen down field on the first TD called back, the inelligible player on the field negating the 2nd TD--which was their snapper--(when it coulda, shoulda, woulda been 14-0) from what I saw was nowhere to be found...even from the Hardin County TV replay and the phantom defensive holding call on North's next possession when John picked off a pass (coulda, shoulda, woulda been John up 14-0 in the first WITH the ball AGAIN at Mid-field) were all, IMO very questionable and w/out a doubt the biggest calls of the game.

 

Some will read this and roll their eyes, think it's bogus...but, I bet there is a vast difference. What it is, who knows. But the flags always seem to be more prevelant at home/in Hardin Co than on the road. Maybe that's just me.

I have the utmost respect for you and your opinions...they are usually spot on. But this coaching staff is not very good as a whole. They are in fact just as much the problem as anything else. The dynamic between coach Lewis and his dad doesn't work well together. And some of the assistants just aren't very good. This is not your old JH teams

Don't we see this every year? John plays a very challenging schedule out of the gates, take their lumps, some things happen that get magnified even more b/c of them losing and then come November....there they are again...making a run at it.

 

In 2014, they started off 2-6 (losing to North mind you) then stormed to the state semis. I get pointing out negatives, but come on....if those are going to be called out, at least point out some positives.

The turnover before the half that North returned for a TD was just one of those things. The QB raised up and threw it out there, he just short armed it but it was behind the line. They ran that same play 2-3 snaps before where they picked up a first down.

 

Steven Livers fumble on the 4th inside North's 20 had nothing to do with a lack of toughness, if anything...it was a result of maybe being too tough and trying too hard. He fumbled after running through/over two a couple of North's tacklers after picking up 12-15 yards.

 

A 3rd turnover was the INT on their very last offensive play.
