The freshman team (last year's seniors) the last year under Brown also won only one game. Something else to think about.

The John Freshman team lost last week to Central Hardin 24-8, also unheard of under Brown and something to think about.

John will always have more athletes on the field than Central but my bet is that they will be out coached every year by Mattingly and the Bruin coaching staff.

It's absurd to call for a coach's job 2 games into the season. I find it interesting that not to long ago-- Hardin County Preps- was talking about the coaching at North Hardin.

Coach Lewis and his staff have played a tough schedule over the last 2-3 years because previously they were knocked for not playing a tough schedule. Now that they are playing one, you think he should lose his job?

 

I have read that it's just the Bankhead show for North- is that a bad thing?

 

Penalties- can make the difference in a tough game and the ones called on John did hurt them on key plays.

 

I find it funny at times that people call for a coach's job for a coach that has consistently won since its beginning. Success in the playoffs- I think Coach Lewis has a pretty good record

Harry, my big issue with losing to NH is based on past results from when the current seniors were Freshman up until this year. Scores are as follows:

 

2013 Freshman: JH 36 NH 20

2013 JV: JH won, don't remember the score

2014 Freshman: JH 44 NH 6

2014 JV: JH 20 NH 0

2015 Freshman: JH 22 NH 6

2015 JV: JH 16 NH 0

 

JH has won every time at the Frosh and JV levels the last 3 years. And all of a sudden they lose at home to NH. It should not happen. I know some kids moved but the core of this team is still here.

And I am not calling for Coach Lewis' job. But there is something going on with this program. I really hope they can turn it around.

Yeah really genius. Same kids that played last Friday have played against each other the last three years. When one team wins all of those games, it should mean they win on Fridays. It's not hard to imagine.

Why do you think Mark Brown left, yet continues to still coach. He wasn't going to leave a juggernaut at John to take over at Elizabethtown. It just wasn't happening. On paper Central should beat John every year. 6A school vs 4A school. 1900 students vs 900 students. It's the exact same reason why Etown quit playing Central. They couldn't compete with them due to school size. Mark Brown is smart enough to realize that too. He didn't pick Central back up for the next 2 years from my sources. If John Hardin continues to drop in enrollment I bet coach Lewis will drop both 6A schools too. John Hardin has a great staff imo. 2 former head coaches on Coach Lewis current staff and I think some of his assistants have been around a long time. Some of the assistants were actually under coach brown too. Everyone has their opinions, but Hardin County Preps has it out for Coach Lewis. Lol. He bashes him every chance he gets. We like to call these people behind the computer screen heroes!

Disagree. JH's senior class of 2012 pops into my head. Middle school champs and undefeated as Freshman. Lost on a last second play to BG otherwise would have been a state champion. The last two years JH's seniors were not good as Freshman and it showed most of the season. Weak districts helped them to a regional title two years ago and last year the underclassmen were a big reason whey they even made it to the regional title game.

There are so many variables that go in to freshman and JV. Some schools play no kids that play on Friday nights in underclassman games. Dont quote middle school championships and freshman record and translate to varsity success. JH will be fine they lost to an elite team in and then may not have played their best and lost. Not the end of the world.

This make not make sense, but yes and no. If by some miracle some semblance of discipline is miraculously instilled in this team, and they win the state title, than overall the year is a success. But losing to your biggest rival, who you have more talent than and should have beat, is unacceptable to the level of program JH should be. No matter what JH does the rest of the year, they still lost to North Hardin.
