August 28, 201610 yr I get what you're saying HB... AJ and Andy actually have very similar physical skill sets and have both shown good QB leadership qualities as well. But the fact is, Andy has more experience and more importantly to the Bengals... Andy has the contract. So, like it or not, one of these QB's is on the way out... And based on the contracts, it's pretty obvious that AJ is the one leaving. Now, as FC is alluding to, who needs a QB? And what will they give for a guy like AJ? I like both QB's and wish they could keep both of them. Like last year, you never know when an injury can change your season... It's nice to have more than one competent QB. That is what makes AJ so intriguing. Even without the experience, he actually showed better poise in the big moments in big games than Dalton. The Denver game he played great and got them a huge lead and then got them to overtime. The Pittsburgh game he made the throws when it mattered most and should have won the game. With Dalton we have no idea if we are even in position to win at the end. We may have been we might not have been. With AJ we know we did have it won, until the fumble. So have to assume AJ will only keep getting better with more experience. That is why this year is huge. Dalton played great last year but still in prime time games under the lights he still didn't do great. If Dalton goes back more to 2014 form and still struggles in big moments under the lights and dosent get them over the hump. Then you have to consider keeping AJ and trading Dalton. Either way the Bengals as you said are in good shape qb wise.

Neither QB is an Aaron Rodgers type of elite guy, but looking around the league, both are probably in the upper half of QB's... That said, Dalton is under contract for a few more years and I think we all know that the Bengals aren't likely to split with him... Even if he has a down year. We still only have a small sample of AJ and that could help his value for the Bengals... He had to come in late in the year when all the games were pretty big ones... He did a good job and that should make him more valuable. It's a crazy league and you never know what other teams may or may not think of him. Either way, not many teams in the league with 2 legit starting caliber QB's... We're lucky at least for one more season in that sense.
August 28, 201610 yr Romo needs to hang it up. He's made enough money and connections for future endeavors to jeopardize his long term health any further

August 28, 201610 yr If one must go, I'm fine with letting the more experienced one go...we could get more for Andy U could be right... Bengals are unlikely to go that route though... I'm okay either way as long as they get a decent deal.
August 28, 201610 yr Really people? We think AJ is in the upper half of the league QB's after playing 7 games? I really like him and am comfortable with him having to come into a game if Andy goes down but I'm sure not ready to anoint him as one of the league's top half QB's.
August 28, 201610 yr Obviously with Romo he needs to consider calling it a career and find out why he's prone to bone injuries. The latest hit he took which injured his back did not look that bad at all to me. With the way he seems to be "brittle" lately, he needs to consider retirement before the next injury involves a bone messing with the spine.

I think people are WAY overestimating how good AJ is. He may be a serviceable starting QB in the league at some point but he is not ever going to be an elite NFL QB IMO. I would keep him because having a solid back up is important but I don't think the Bengals are as good with him starting as the 2015 Dalton. Dalton WAS an elite QB last year before going down.

Yeah, let me clarify my viewpoint..... I think Andy is definitely a top half of the league QB and AJ has shown similar qualities in his limited playing time... Leading me to believe that he has the potential to be a top half guy... But potential is all... I agree it's too small of a sample size on AJ at this point to really say for sure either way.
August 29, 201610 yr When Romo came back last year first against the Dolphins the Cowboys won (2) picks, and then the game against the Panthers on turkey day he was awful threw about 4-5 picks. It would be hard for him I think anyway this season, could be totally wrong, he has not played a lot in the last 2-3 seasons. As a Cowboys fan it sickens me because if he is healthy they are a playoff team, and could be with Dak if he plays like he has in pre-season. Lots of QB have looked good in pre-season so who knows, I will say he is the steal of the draft in my opinion.
