This my first time being there and my first time seeing 3 of the 4 teams play(Boyle County is the only one I have watched before)

@ChiefSmoke can confirm this, but I believe Mercer County now plays at the old Harrodsburg High School on East Lexington Street. They do not play at the high school. Just a heads up so you don't get lost.

Games will indeed be at Alvis Johnson field @ the old Harrodsburg high campus. The field has been redone,new bleachers and the place looks great! Can't wait until Saturday night! This will be my 1st High school game at this stadium. I'm pretty excited for it too!

Should be a great atmosphere. It was last year at the 'old' Mercer field and should be pretty nostalgic coming back to Alvis Johnson Field.

Yes. I got to talk to Coach today. He is the Patriarch of football in our community. Our stadium looks great and bears the name of a great man who gave so much to the kids here over a very long period of time. :thumb:

yes they do....I think Boyle looks improved from the Madison Central scrimmage. Just hope it is enough to get the job done. North Hardin is a tough opening matchup with their spread offense.

Central Hardin is located in Cecilia, KY (Elizabethtown). Class 6A with a large student population (approximately 1800 last year), has 2 feeder middle schools ( West and East Hardin middle schools). Head coach is Tim Mattingly ( 27th year as a football coach), now entering his 3rd season as head coach at Central Hardin after spending 10 years as defensive coordinator at Meade County.

Central Hardin has only 12 returning seniors but return key starters QB Reece Iler and RB Darius Barbour.

Central Runs the wing T offense and play a tough 4-4 defense.

Mattingly brings a hard nosed edge to this team, their motto " Effort, Attitude, Toughness".

For those of you not familiar with Alvis Johnson Stadium, I have some parking pointers, that may help. Especially if the forecast is right and rain arrives late this morning and continues most of the day.

There is a fairly sizable lot located on Factory street that is for the Lions club with a foot bridge over to the stadium property. The school (old Harrodsburg High & board of education) on lexington street also has paved parking and quite a bit of field/lawn parking. Of course it will not take much rain to make the unpaved option, not very inviting.

I hope this helps! If the crowd is like last year, the place will be a fantastic atmosphere for a high school football game and with the re-opening of AJ field, I look for a record crowd, rain or shine!

Regardless, I hope you enjoy your trip. It should be a great football atmosphere in Mercer County.

 

Looking at the forecast it's suppose to bring in a pretty big storm at 4:00 so hopefully that doesn't mess with the football game either.

I here games may be postponed till 2:00 Sunday due to weather concerns. Decision will be made very soon

Surely this will be a quick decision as both Hardins have a 80 mile trip ahead of them.
