This is going to be a tough one for Mercer. I feel a lot better about their defense than I do their offense. Offense will be fine by the end of the season but could start out slow the first few games. Defense will need to carry Mercer to keep them in the games early on.

Mercer Co. lost to a young Bourbon Co. team in last weeks scrimmage, I suppose it's a scrimmage, but I don't see that as a positive going against a Top 10 6A team. I think Mercer starts out the season better though, just not in this game.

I feel good about Mercers ability to move the ball and score, but the defensive side of the ball is where I believe they have a lot to prove. The running game will depend largely on Gunnar's ability to connect on a few downfield passes. If this happens, look for MC to score in the 30's, if not it could be a struggle. I'm excited to see what Robbins will bring in his return to football and I fully expect D Smith and our running game to be solid. The kicking game should also be a strength.

I'm taking Mercer, 35-28

Who is kicking for Mercer County this season?

I'm assuming Garret Dean will place kick, not sure if he or Nick McLain will handle kick off. Could be someone I'm not familiar with in the mix as well, but both of these young men have good legs!

Sooooooooo ready for season to start now. GO BRUINS!!!!!!!!

Loading the car up on Saturday with 7 kids, 2 cow bells, and air horn, yes I am that guy, for the trip to Mercer County.

Lets go Bruins

Way to base Central's strength on 12 returning seniors, HCP. I'll take Mercer by 10.

But you are basing Meade's strength on 30 returning (yes 30!)juniors this season, logic?

I think that Mercer will start this year better than they did last year. This will be a tough game to start with and one thing that I think that will help the Titans is all those Seniors. My head says to pick Central Hardin but my son goes to Mercer and started High School this year (no he does not play football, wish he did). So I will go with the Titans 21-17.

I could be wrong here, but I'm pretty sure Mercer was soundly beat at Bourbon in a scrimmage last week. Bourbon is supposed to be down this year, if Central Hardin doesn't dominate I'd be surprised...

You could be wrong. Mercer was up 14-10 late in the 3rd Qtr. Bourbon scored on their 2nd string D to go up 17-14. Mercer got the ball back and threw a pick 6 that put them down 24-14 to end the game. JV played 4th QTR for both. Still doesn't mean that Mercer can hang with Central Hardin but they were in no way beat soundly by Bourbon. Bourbon didn't score against our 1st team defense.

Mercer Co. will be stout on defense if Tyus Short and Grayson Blevins are 2nd team defense, because I saw Bourbon score on them. Also saw the Varsity QB(Gillis?) throw a pick towards the end on the 3rd Q. that put Bourbon up 24-14. Bourbon I think had 3 QBs, and I believe all of them have with no Varsity experience? So I wouldn't put it as a strong showing for Mercer Co. They'll be good but someone need to hold back right now, though they should run through district.

Mercer is much improved and will win a close one over Central Hardin 28-21.

Does Central Hardin platoon or do they play their best players both ways regardless of position? Do their linemen go both ways?
