I could be wrong here, but I'm pretty sure Mercer was soundly beat at Bourbon in a scrimmage last week. Bourbon is supposed to be down this year, if Central Hardin doesn't dominate I'd be surprised...

He coached at Bourbon County ... He was Dudley's replacement. He had some decent teams, but I don't believe he made it past the first round of the playoffs. I do remember in typical Chuke fashion that he had one of the state's leading running backs with that good old Belly Read!!!!!! Also send prayers to Coach Copley at Greenup and as I know Chuke just basically raised him coming out of high school. He really looked up to Chuke, and I believe helped him coach for a few years. I would imagine that this is a tough time for him as well.

2 more cents: I have seen this Bourbon county team play, and I have seen Boyle County play. There is no doubt that Boyle County is overall the most team, Bourbon has a few players that will give them fits. I dont see McShara breaking any long runs unless someone on Boyle is laying on top of #6 Bourbon County, that kid can fly. I also expect the Barnes kid do a little damage, and whoever is going up against Bourbon's big guard is in for a long night. That said, Boyle will probably win big!!

This won't / shouldn't be as bad as predicted, not because East will give Boyle fits, but because playoffs are around the corner, and McShara (sp?) and company will only play long enough to put this in the bag. I look for a 35-40 (Boyle) - 0-14 (East) game.

I was at this game too. It seems like Bourbon county refused to switch things up. When Harrison caught on to Barnes gashing them they stacked 11 in the box and crashed both ends and blitzed all gaps, at any point and time a tight end dump or option or boot or even sweep would have made the defense play honest. I believe I saw a TE dump one play that almost scored, but it was late in the game and they never went back to it. Congrats to the Breds as I thought this one was over in the first quarter.

If your going to add Ricky Buckler you should also add Tee Barnes

If this is the criteria, with Weaver out I would have to say that Channing Fugate, or Miles Simpson are the only 2 we can consider. Fugate has had a down year with his team, and Simpson has been hurt for 3-4 games, so I would have to think that would take those two out of the hunt?????

I guess what I'm trying to say I think it is only fair to write Barnes kid ( I think his first name is Tee) in the poll based on talent and stats....

I will state this again: I think the Barnes kid from Bourbon County is the state's leading rusher, and actually averages more yards per carry than McCaden. Before you talk about the talent he plays against, stop and think about the talent he is playing with as well. I've seen him play a couple of times this season and he is one of the toughest runningbacks I've seen play in a while, 5'8 in cleats, and maybe 160 pounds soaking wet with a rock in his pocket, but he is never tackled by one man. I know the colonels probably arent good enough to get him any recognition, but I think this kid should be talked about. These are all great players, but I would think that if you are leading the state in rushing, and averaging almost 9 yards per carry (max preps). Then you deserve some recognition.....

I definitely agree Highlands is the best team in the state, but I would not be so quick to jump the gun on Trinity and X being down. I mean maybe Highlands is just THAT good. A friend of Mueller's told me that Mueller thinks this is his best team EVER, and that is saying a ton...

"Too Deep" is a big jump up considering neither team has won a playoff game since 2005 and Bourbon has not won one since I believe 2001, and would not have gone to the playoffs if it wasn't for the alignment of their district and only having 4 teams, and therefore getting an automatic bid....

Thats a little different Western Hills is also in Frankfort, and Frankfort as a fairly high enrollment for a 1A school. Paris graduates some 30-50 kids a year, and average around 130-140 in the entire high school. If Paris makes it through the recession without merging, I would be very surprised to see it happen down the road, if there was ever a time, it is now. IMHO I would think that both schools should merge sports at the least, but I dont think people realize the rivalry that once existed between these two schools. None of the old Alumni faithfuls want to see a merger, and they are the ones that now have the money and power to decide..........

This is a funny game. I have seen both teams play, the Royals have many more athletes than the Colonels, but Mason cannot touch Bourbon up front. If the Bourbon's front 5 can get the Barnes kid going this could get interesting. This brings me to another point, this Barnes kid does not get enough credit around this area, his team has been down the last few years, and he has gone unnoticed at QB I think, but this kid can absolutely run the ball. I don't think he is a Fugate, or McShara, or McCaden (sp?) Weaver, or Simpson but take those 5 out and I would put him against anyone around this area .... especially with Bourbon's front 5

Who does Bourbon have out, I don't know much about them, but I know if Barnes or any of the front 5 are out then they will struggle....

Does he play for Estill or Bourbon Co.?

I agree, I have seen this kid play numerous times, and I will say that without a doubt, if this kid can put on 20-30 pounds and maintain his speed (4.55 4.6) he has the hands, heighth (6'5), and intangibles to be a D1 receiver. He could definitely play at Kentucky or Louisville, and I would think he can play at the same tier schools in other BCS conferences (Duke, UNC, USF, and teams of that nature.)

Frankfort has 1A title hopes and a legit shot, Paris lost to Kentucky Country Day last week in their opener. To me this looks like the game will be every bit as bad as Foley wants it to be. Considering Foley used to coach the crosstown rivals of the greyhounds, I wouldn't be surprised if he let it get out of hand a tad to show what he has.....

Didn't mean to offend you but Danville and Boyle are def. included, I just didn't feel like typing all of the counties, I thought I implied that,but maybe I didnt....

Wanted an opinion on the best players in Central Kentucky that do not attend a Lexington school. Clark, Scott, Bourbon, Harrison, Jessamine, Nicholas, even throw in Richmond and Mercer if you want.
