Best players in Central Kentucky (not including Lexington)

Featured Replies

Wanted an opinion on the best players in Central Kentucky that do not attend a Lexington school. Clark, Scott, Bourbon, Harrison, Jessamine, Nicholas, even throw in Richmond and Mercer if you want.

Let me start it off then:

These are just the kids that I know can play, Im sure there are more:

Rico Brown - Madison SOuthern

Malcolm Thomas - Harrison COunty D1 receiver IMO

T Barnes - Bourbon COunty

Madison Central RB - Cant think of his name but he is hard nosed

Cody Dumphord - LB at Paris, may be the only player on the team

West Jessamine has a decent RB as well

Rees MacShara-RB-Boyle County. Easily the best player in Central Kentucky.

I know you didn't say Boyle County, but we are considered Central Kentucky also. Plus we are right next to Mercer and Jessamine County.

Luke Stocker - Madison Southern. Starting TE for UT, but in high school was a dual threat and one of the best defensive ends I have seen in quite some time.

Didn't mean to offend you but Danville and Boyle are def. included, I just didn't feel like typing all of the counties, I thought I implied that, but maybe I didnt....

Rees MacShara or Grant Aumiller are easily the best 2 from Central Kentucky.

I agree Charles that Reese and Grant are good, but IMO Lamar Dawson is the best player (even at a Jr.) in CKY. Next year there will be some big time colleges in the stands watching. The kid has the grades and has a very good head on his shoulders. Could be one the best ever to play for the Rebels before he's gone, and that's some tuff company.

It seems to me that Lamar Dawson is the best college prospect on the Boyle County team.

I would put Rees McShara on the list as being one of the best, if not the best, players in Central Kentucky, period. He may or may not be a Division I college football prospect, but lets not discount his value to the Boyle County Rebels last season and this season. He is the difference maker.

He is the difference maker.

I agree. Boyle is and always has been team ball and not I or me. Each player is better for having the others around them. What Reese can do with his cuts and decisions are unbelievable and very hard to tackle. Grant seems to always come through at the right times for a big loss in the backfield.

Reese -Will put up some very big numbers this year in Touchdowns and rushing and recieving yards. He's gotten bigger and stronger this year and it wil show during the games. He means so much to this Rebel squad with a new quarterback.

Grant - Should make first team all state on the defense line. Last year he spent more time in the Lexington Catholic backfield then their runningback. Grant had some very big tackles for a loss and key times last week against Johnson Central. Him and Lamar will be counted on to anchor the defense.

Frankfort High- Quan Weaver/RB

Western Hills- Dylan Curry/QB

Franklin County- Jeremy Gardner/ATH and Wesley Watkins OL/DT

The city of Frankfort has young talent as well with Ryan Timmons, an freshman athlete, he will make some noise this year.

I would say that Thomas has the most going for him in Harrison County. If he keeps working at it he has the possiblity of being a good college receiver. But his best sport is baseball and I wouldn't be surprised if he is drafted.

I agree! :thumb:

As you implied, just because you're a Division I college football prospect doesn't make you the absolute best. Being a Boyle County fan, it was a hard choice between these guys. Grant, Rees and Lamar all have good heads on their shoulders but they are surperb athletes. I hope they all stay healthy while having a successful season. Go Rebs! :thumb:

I agree, I have seen this kid play numerous times, and I will say that without a doubt, if this kid can put on 20-30 pounds and maintain his speed

(4.55 4.6) he has the hands, heighth (6'5), and intangibles to be a D1 receiver. He could definitely play at Kentucky or Louisville, and I would think he can play at the same tier schools in other BCS conferences (Duke, UNC, USF, and teams of that nature.)

What position will Timmons be playing?
