Steak & Baked Potato or Ribs & Cornbread?

Featured Replies

All of these strict choices! Maybe it's just me, but put a gun to my head and force me, I'll eat any thing, and that would be my choice:lol2:

I think that depends. If you've never been to a good steakhouse, you probably don't notice. If you have, there are very few restaurants you can get a steak from.
I guess. The crap served at places like Outback doesn't make me want a steak.

I'm right there with ya, but I didn't know the difference until I had one from a real steakhouse...

Jeff Ruby's

The Moerlein Lager House

The Paragon Supper Club

The Peddler's (Gatlinburg)

Those are the only restaurants I trust to order a steak from. I was shocked that Moerlein had as good a steak as they do.

Steak snobs.

To me steak is like sex, even when it's bad it's still pretty good.

Word...

I love ribs and when done right they are definitely one of my favorite things to eat, however there is nothing better than a good steak. So my choice would be steak, baked potato, and asparagus.

I like to throw my asparagus on the grill for a minute or two while the steaks are finishing up to add a little flavor and those awesome looking grill marks. Then while the steaks are resting I throw the asparagus on a cast iron griddle with a little garlic butter and parmesan and let them saute for a few minutes. By the time all of that is done it's time to pull the potatoes from the warming rack and eat. That is by far my favorite meal to cook over charcoal.

Tuesday - Steak/potato

Wednesday - Ribs/cornbread

So who is helping me out with the menu for Friday through next Monday?

Which would you rather have if you had to choose?

I'm taking Steak & Baked Potato.

I'd be delighted with either, but steak is probably my favorite thing to eat.

Random thoughts:

The absolute best steak I've ever had, bar none, was at Crazy Horse Ranch just outside of Paoli, IN.

Cornbread can be so bad, or heaven. It must NOT be sweet. It must be piping hot. Slathering with real butter is a must.

I like ribs, but I've never had any that knock my socks off.

Like baked potatoes, but really prefer skillet fried potatoes.

The cast iron method for steaks works, and the cornbread has to be made in cast iron also.

We need to go get some Ribs sometime soon.

No doubt.

I eat at the finest joints in town a lot, and when I travel eat like a Prince, but I can still enjoy a medium rare sirloin for lunch at Ruby Tuesday or a breakfast steak with eggs at Cracker Barrel.

Smoking Pig BGP get together? :hungry:

I love ribs and love to cook them, but I can't eat them every day. With steak I can mix up recipes and do different things. Well, at least until my gout flares up because of all the red meat. Or other issues of regularity crop up.
