The other thread got me thinking. Snakes are highly evolved and diverse parts of every warm ecosystem. What would happen if there were no more snakes?

We would be over ran by rodents and birds.

I could sit on a toilet in peace.

Well, with all due respect, snakes aren't highly evolved ( in my humble opinion anyway). And I'd be tickled if they'd just go away. As for the mice, we can all set a mousetrap.

Okay, highly evolved in every environment they occupy and I am trying put it in perspective.

Snakes aren't the villians they're made out to be in an ecosystem. They occupy a very important niche. I just don't like them.

The world would be a better place. We could take all the cats off of cat island and spread them around and the mice problem is gone. Problem solved.

We'd all be Ireland.

Most likely we would have rampant rodent-borne diseases.

Snakes are like guns. They look menacing. It's important to recognize the dangerous end.
