July 11, 201610 yr Saw where Marc Amazon was saying on Sports Rock last nite that now would be the perfect time to move DuVall. Even though he has the home runs and doubles, he is on pace to have the worst OBP in the history of baseball(did I hear that right?). So does DuVall,Cozart and Bruce all go? Can Phillips be thrown in as part of any of these deals or would anyone except his contract?

July 12, 201610 yr If the deal is good, I say no one is untouchable. I remember someone telling me two years ago that the time to trade Devan Mesoraco was upon us. I thought they were crazy. There were teams that wanted Chris Heisey in 2011 but people abhorred the idea thinking he would continue to produce after Johnny Gomes was traded. Drew Stubbs's stock was highest in 2010. He had 22 homeruns, 77 rbis, and was third on the team in run scored behind Votto and Philips. Fans assumed his natural progression would lead to stardom. Edited July 12, 201610 yr by PP1

July 12, 201610 yr He won't be "shopped," but they'd listen to any offers and pull the trigger if someone "knocks their socks off." As mentioned above, he is the exact kind of player the Reds need: under control for 6 yrs, older than the usual player with that much control, pop in his bat, decent defense, local ties, etc. All of that said, if there is a GM somewhere that thinks #DuvAllStar is really the player he showed in the 1st half and is only now being able to show it because he has gotten everyday playing time, they might value him higher than the Reds who "HOPE" all of the above but "SUSPECT" there is a reason he didn't get everyday playing time until his current age with a "subpar" lineup. I for one hope he stays and improves in all respects.

July 16, 201610 yr This really isn't a horrible idea. Sure he's hit some homers. His peripheral stats are awful. He's striking out in almost 1/3 of his at bats. His HR to fly ball percentage is way higher than normal and is not sustainable. If they keep him they will likely have a guy hitting .225 with a .275 OBP and 18 homers in 2 years. By the time the Reds are ready to compete he'll be 31 or 32 and an afterthought. He might actually bring some value now. He's worth nothing in 2 years.
