...that people might otherwise be surprised to learn were alive at the same time?

the fact mcpapa was around with Jesus would not be considered a surprise.

Leaders from our Civil War and WWII. Jefferson Davis, William Sherman, U.S. Grant and FDR, Hitler, Stalin, Churchill overlapped.

Along similar lines, a lot of the folks from the Revolutionary War were alive when some of the major players in the Civil War were born.

Using your US Grant example, he was born in 1822, and both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson would live until he was four.

Giacomo Puccini, famed operatic composer, died the same year that Chuck Berry was born.

If you have to tell people who someone is then they aren't famous. :idunno:

Bull! Anyone under 50 would know who that guy was if he walked into a room.

I thought @mcpapa was strictly Old Testament.

I'll have to dust off my autographed Bible.

mcpapa and Jesus

I was going to say McPapa and Moses but that works too...

Come to think of it - perfect porn name for Papa...Moses McPapa...has a nice to ring to it...

Me and Connie Mack, H.L. Mencken and Bela Lugosi.

I'm under 50, and I would probably recognize the guy, but no chance I would know his name.

That definitely makes him famous.

Could still be famous, just not as well known as other names listed on here. He and Puccini are the only names I haven't recognized yet.

Clara Barton and Mother Teresa.

Alexander Graham Bell and John Glenn.
