I'm not sure if the media should report on these attacks or not. Each killing is going to inflame tensions.

 

These people were not all cops that's what's even worse. Just random citizens.

My condolences that you live in Cleveland:lol2:. STAY AWAY from the convention area! I am sure that VERY ORGANIZED protests are already teed up and ready to go. I think it will get very ugly there as many paid protestors will be brought in to just cause problems.

I'm glad US Bank Arena is a dump and the RNC turned Cincinnati down when they were in the running for it.

I expect a lot of violence outside of the RNC

Tonight is the first I heard of this.

 

I'm going to maybe tick some people off, but as some on here say "I'm keeping it real" on this.

If a White guy had indiscriminately shot 4 Black victims BECAUSE they were Black this would have been the lead story on every cable news channel yesterday right up until the Dallas massacre last night. Usual suspects would have been in front of any camera they could have found talking about the plight of blacks in white America, DoJ would have sent the FBI to work this case as a hate crime and the world would have descended on Bristol TN.

 

Black guy indiscriminately shoots 4 white people just because they are white, and no one outside of that community cares. Everyone is too busy trying to figure out why body cameras fall off during a fight in Baton Rouge.

 

As I've always said, in nearly every case where race is brought up it is really about criminal wrong doing by one side or the other and race should just be a side note. Whether it is a police officer overstepping his authority that needs to be prosecuted or a criminal that attacks an officer and the community is stunned because the officer had to use deadly force. If races were the same little if anything would be said, because both are products of criminal behavior.

 

But there is a double standard, if the guy in Baton Rouge was white and shot and killed by 2 black officers none of the people complaining would be saying a single word.

 

But we need to get past this crap, wrong is wrong and right is right. Every interaction between police and criminals or criminals and citizens is driven by race...there are just a lot of bad people (White, Black and Brown) and a lot of people that bend over backwards to enable them in life and defend them in death.

I would agree with you entirely if the number of black men killed during police encounters was proportional to their demographic make-up, as compared with white men. Same is true for cops shot by blacks, vs. those shot by whites. There is a problem that is not going to go away with ignoring it. With that said, some make the problem worse and not every incident is the result of racial bias or racism.

What demographic is relevant?

 

Is it relevant to expect number of blacks/minorities killed by police to be proportionately equal to the general population?

 

Or should we be looking at the demographic of what percent of police encounters are black/minority and white? In other words, if 45% of police encounters are with minorities, then should we expect 45% of people killed in police encounters to be minorities?

 

These are not rhetorical questions. I am asking for numbers, thoughts and discussion.
