The same could have been said about Jose Canseco being a cheater and a liar. When in fact it ended up being he wasn't much of a liar at all. What he said ended up being true. Jose Canseco had no reason to lie and neither does this ref. One thing we have learned about sports over the years is usually where there is smoke there is fire and things end up being true.

 

It's sad that society is like this now but the track record in sports is that most things end up being true once things start being said.

 

Big difference between Jose Canseco and Tim Donaghy. Tim Donaghy is more comparable to Pete Rose than Jose Canseco. Especially when you add in the fact that the media was in on the MLB steroids coverup. Pete Rose and Tim Donaghy both tried to use their influence on games to fatten their pockets and satisfy their gambling habits. And failed miserably at it. Jose Canseco cheated and named names when he cheated. Tim Donaghy has yet to name names and much like Pete Rose he'll say damn near anything whether it is founded or unfounded to get in the spotlight when the timing is right.

Rigged is probably a strong word, but games can be influenced to help the chances of an outcome they want to happen. I have mentioned it before the NBA is a smart business. People would be crazy to believe that steroids are some how not amazingly involved in the NBA like other sports. However isn't it amazing how none of that ever gets mentioned and especially amazing how no stars ever get busted for anything. The NBA is smart they know it only hurts the league to bust it's star players and so no reason to even look into it.

 

Then look at Green with the Warriors I would be willing to bet Green gets suspended the Thunder series if they were winning that series but since they were losing he didn't get suspended. Just like this series since they were up he did get suspended.

 

Also if one thing we have learned from other sports people who get busted and then rat out others usually is telling the truth about the others. So when a former ref comes out and even says that refs have been told to try to possibly help extend a series or to then yeah it probably can be believeable. Obviously in basketball there is no way to completely rig a game to get a desired result. But a game can be influenced to try to help better the chances of a certain team winning.

 

Now yes the NBA already has got money for this, so they are not making more money the longer the series goes. But the longer the series goes the more the NBA gets talked about, the more popular it helps it, the higher the ratings. Meaning next time the rights for the NBA tv rights is up the higher the NBA can get its ratings the more money they can hold out for as leverage in tv negotiations.

 

So while I don't think the game is rigged as people say because you can't control who makes and misses shots. I do think the NBA does try to find away to influence games to help get a desired result. Which as i mentioned with the steroid stuff is just smart business by the nba. It's a business for them and it's about doing what is best for its business.

 

Which it's not just a nba thing. I think the nfl tries to influence results too, to get a desired outcome they want. It's all about doing best for those leagues because it at the end of the day is a business for them and they know us fans will always still be here.

Green had accumulated 4 flagrant foul points during the playoffs which is why he was suspended. He wasn't suspended because of one flagrant action over the other flagrant action. He was suspended because he had committed four flagrant actions in the 2016 playoffs and when you have committed four flagrant fouls in the playoffs you are automatically suspended for a game.

Honestly I didnt pay much attention to it , other than to think what a punk move that was to bait a guy into a confrontation by stepping over him like that . Of course you stick your privates on a guys head he's going to toss you off . I think he deserved punishment , even a suspension for the kick to adams , the other was a " play on " not much there other than Lebron attempting a bully type move .

That was one weak " punch" . The whole playoffs were terribly officiated . Cavs made the plays to win , GS didnt though.
