Credit Cards with the chip

Featured Replies

I think this new security chip in my card is more trouble then it is worth. I also do not think it adds that much security.

Never works for me. Gotta try three times and then swipe.

I don't even get the option to swipe at some places such as Kroger.

For the longest time I'd pull the card prematurely.

Hopefully the chips will provide added protection, but I fear that it will just encourage thieves to figure out new ways to get around them, if they already haven't.

What I'd like to know is how are thieves acquiring all of those skimming devices for gas pumps etc...and how in the world are some of them able to obtain exact duplicate credit card and ATM machine covers that they can place right over top the real ones and snap right into place?

For example in this video the guy places an identical cover right over top of the credit card reader in the store.

How is this possible and where did he get it?

If it came from another stolen credit card reader how is it so easy just to put it over top of the real card reader? You'd think that the design would not allow for it to snap so easily in place.

I don't get it and it's freaking me out a little that it's happening so often. and I don't think that I'm keen enough to be able to tell the difference.

Sometimes It's good to pull out prematurely

Why do you think it doesn't add much security?

In Europe they're referred to as "chip and pin" cards rather than "chip" cards. You have to enter in your credit card pin EVERY SINGLE TIME, just like you do a debit card here in the States. I don't understand why they don't include the pin here, for the life of me.

Because thieves/lowlifes now have devices that can scan your chip from a distant when it is inside your wallet. So now instead being worried about someone stealing my number whenever I use it on a machine, now my number is at risk whenever it is in my pocket and I walk down the street.

They are now making new wallets to jam these new devices.

By the time I figure out how to do the chip they'll change to something much more confusing.

You stick the card in the slot till it says approved. Couldn't be easier. It's worked every time for me.

This. It's incredibly simple.
