June 2, 201610 yr To be fashionably late or just late. The time is the time is the time. I lit up some Californians the other day about being late for conference calls. Every minute you are late to a meeting multiply it by everyone in the meeting to determine how late you really were.
June 2, 201610 yr A few of mine center around greeting cards. If you're going to a party to celebrate someone's birthday (and let's assume they're not kids) why do you need to bring a birthday card? You're going to actually say the words "Happy Birthday" so why do I need to also have a card saying the same? I've never bought a card for anyone besides my mother or a child. Wedding equals an envelope of cash. Birthday equals a gift. I don't do cards.
June 2, 201610 yr If you're making a cookbook or you're a professional restaurant critic, I get it. Otherwise I have no idea what the deal is with that. I also have no idea what amateur food blogs are about. I find this practice a form of snobbery. It's a "look at me and what I have" practice. I don't mind the occasional photo of someone who smoked something all day . But the photos of food at a restaurant is snob 101.

I feel like it's common practice the higher up the ladder someone is the more lare they are for a phone conference. Pure alpha move.
June 2, 201610 yr I think the "Available" thing is an urban myth. At least I've seen it dismissed over and over. I had always heard that it originated in prison, but because belts were not permitted due to safety concerns.

I was told, I just don't understand, "we have to go to a meeting room and have to walk to get there". I politely told them to leave earlier! So many times they are on a cell phone to start the call. The office from the East is always prompt. I think it's an LA thing.
June 2, 201610 yr We had a new Starbucks built here several years ago...Local coffee house (with no drive through) ran them out of business with better service and a better product. Local now has 4 locations...but no Starbucks. Rumor is new Kroger may have one. #Aberration
June 2, 201610 yr I feel safe in saying I was the one who got the Vegas/Michigan combo going on WKU's campus in those days. Somewhere Craig Karem and David Chinn are cursing at this post.
June 2, 201610 yr If I had a dollar for every time I saw a high school or college aged girl walking around in running shorts and boat shoes with their dark socks pulled up I could retire tomorrow. It just looks dumb an I DO. NOT. GET. IT. That's a new one on me. Don't get it at all. I do see high school aged boys with regular shorts, boat shoes, and dark socks...also stupid looking.
June 2, 201610 yr Mega expensive athletic shoes on kids. I'd take my students outside to play kickball from time to time, and most of the boys would have their shoes off because they didn't want them scuffed or dirty. Stupid. A kid told me his shoes were $250 once. He was confused when I asked him what all they could do...

Once you're out of college, I don't get the need for all the sneakers and basketball shoes. One pair of gym shoes should suffice.

One pair of gym shoes should suffice. I can't speak on behalf of all sneakerheads, but basketball is the only form of exercise I get outside of lawncare, so I like to keep a pair for the park, which is currently Kobe's first adidas signature, and the gym, where I'm in the 8th KD installment. As the Kobes deteriorate, the KDs will make their way outside (which I'm not looking forward to) and I'll buy a newer pair, on sale, to wear in the gym. Add to those a pair or three for everyday wear and you have my sneaker rotation. Where I would agree with you is those who buy shoes with the intention of snapping a picture for Instagram and immediately put them on eBay at a 75-150% markup, driving up the retail prices, and rendering great shoes unaffordable.
