2-0 HHS after 1???

I don't believe either run was earned. I need to check on that.

By my scoring only 1 of the first 4 runs was earned.

I was merely questioning the decision to start AJ in the first place. Great athlete but it seems like there were more experienced options on the bump.

Re: the play at 2nd base. From my perspective it did not seem vicious. CCH 2B Nick Stegman received the ball in the base path just as HHS LF Trey Bowden arrived. Each has a right to the base path. Stegman just happened to get the worst of it.

Pitzer threw 2 feet behind Bowden on the first pitch of his next AB. I guess that one just got away from Pitzer....

You forgot to tell the rest of the story.

Then Doty hit Pitzer..

First inning for HHS tonight:

F8

E6

SB

Passed ball

6-3

Should have been out of the inning.

2nd inning:

E1

Runner goes to 2nd on error

E3 on a throw - runner scores

Ground out

F7

K

Down 4 -0 no earned runs.

Then Doty hit Pitzer..

Unintentional.

Slow breaking ball.

CCH has Pitzer, Young, and other arms, and Krumps starts a kid that has started JV most of the year in Rd 1 of region? Sorry, he's lost his mind. Time for a change at CCH, way too great of tradition-and I get a lot of that is on Krumps reign-to let this happen. Talked to several CCH parents during game, to say the native are restless is gross understatement.

He pitched well enough to get out of the first couple of innings with no runs.

Totally agree. While it was an interesting choice, AJ didn't throw badly. Cov Cath couldn't make a play. Uninspired baseball for the past 10 days....and some might argue the past 10 years at regionals. Only one common thread with all of those teams.

Clyde there are days when you make sense, and days I think you may have lost your mind.

The play at second was clear interference. The pitch you speak of in the 1st as a passed ball was a wild pitch as it was blocked in the dirt/turf. The pitch from Doty was virtually the only 'ball' he threw in his appearance.

Here's the reality. Highlands was better than Cov Cath last night. Cov Cath didn't hit and would have lost a 2-0 game.

What comment did I make about the play at second?

No way the ball that hit Cam was intentional. No one plunks a batter with a curve ball.

My bad if you didn't comment on the play at second, I mis-allocated the comment.

However, as a pitcher, you would hit a guy with a curve ball if you don't want to get ejected, as I suspect warnings were issued after the pitch Pitzer threw behind the hitter.

I thought the umps showed almost to much patience last night. Krumps should have been tossed for his embarrassing display.
