Tragedy stuck the NBA world on Saturday as reports indicate that New Orleans Pelicans shooting guard Bryce Dejean-Jones has died at the age of 23.

Travis Hines of the Ames Tribune is reporting that the Dallas (TX) County coroner's office confirmed to the paper on Saturday that the former Iowa State Cyclones standout has passed away.

While the coroner's office wouldn't provide a cause of death to Hines, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Dejean-Jones suffered gun shot to abdomen late Friday and bled to death.

Dejean-Jones signed a three-year deal the Pelicans in February after being called up from the Idaho Stampede of the D-League.

UPDATE: Multiple reports indicate that Bryce Dejean-Jones inadvertently entered the door of the wrong apartment when shot to death while trying to go to the home of the mother of his child.

Bad decision.

Something tells me there is more to this story...

That's so sad if true.

Dude tried to break into his girlfriends apartment. He busted down the door. I don't feel sorry for him.

Me either. I wouldn't be surprised if he was intoxicated or on something. How did he not realize he was in the wrong apartment unless his brain was impaired.

So he was trying to break into his girlfriends apartment, but broke into the wrong one? Is that correct?

That is correct.

I feel bad for the person who shot him. I bet he did not wake up that day with killing someone on his agenda. But someone busts down the door in the middle of the night?

Hate to see young people die, even when they are in the wrong.

Yes. Girlfriend lived on the next floor.

Tragic death, but I don't feel bad for him either.

Somebody busts in my door in the middle of the night, they are getting two to the chest.
