No Mayfield?

How could I overlook Mayfield? They certainly belong in that group above. Four of the six classes have heavy favorites. I think the Cardinals will win 2A, but CAL and DeSales will certainly make things interesting.

Should Mayfield win out they would end the season with a 15-0 record and they will have a very special and unique streak that no one appears to realize yet. For now so as to not jinx it I will remain silent.

Also would be a 100-5 record over 7 years.

This is one of my favorite posts since I have been a member of BGP. Personally, since I was a little kid I always liked reading & studying up about streaks & dynasties. I just think that it is fascinating that programs are able to maintain for as long as some of these have over the years.

With Beechwood's recent state championship, i think it could count as a run, having started and ended with championships as well as the future looking bright to continue this run.

8 years is a big gap between titles to qualify as a "run" or "dynasty."

 

If that were the measure Boyle could have extended theirs out to 2010 with 7 titles from '99 to '10 and one runner-up. Add another semi-final appearance and 13-1 seasons in '08.

I believe Belfry is up to a 31 game winning streak against KY competition

 

One of the coolest stats though is they have won their last 9 games against teams that would go on to reach the State Finals that same year

Belfry's seniors lost twice to Johnson Central but both years the Eagles fell short of the Finals. Pikeville and Knoxville Catholic each fell short in massive upsets.
