Only people that get scholarship money are incoming frosh who score highest on entrance exam.

This is a long stretch, but let's say Chris Stapleton gets the Scott job. Him being from Maysville and having connections with Garrison, I honestly could see him moving from one tenth region team to the other....

I believe if he was smart he would decide between two schools Cov Cath and Cooper. To be honest with you I think he would be smart if he went to Cov Cath. Look at the last three years at Cov Cath. They have one of the best coaching staff in the state maybe one of the top 10 in the country.

This is a bit of an out there statement. Are there national rankings somewhere on high school coaching staffs? What do you base this on? Have you been all over the country and seen all of the coaches?

Has he decided where he is going?

Before discussing where Garrison fits in the CovCath program, the larger question in my mind, is IF Garrison fits in the CovCath program.

CovCath and Mason County are two all-together different schools, and Buddy Biggs and Scott Ruthsatz are two entirely different coaches.

 

Garrison will have to accept being a total team player. He will have to accept the structure that goes along with playing for the Colonels. Pretty much he will have to start from Block A and earn anything that comes his way. He will have to learn to play within the finite function of the team. The Colonels play with purpose. In other words, it's going to be a whole new world, and whole new experience.

 

I wish him the best, but could see him starting at CovCath, but then making a jump to yet another high school, if he doesn't fit into the scheme of Colonels basketball that he perceives.

 

This will be VERY INERESTING to see how it plays out. Hopefully for the best for all parties concerned.

Will Garrison have to take special classes at CovCath or something of the sort because he is not Catholic? I know usually the tuition is higher for kids who are not Catholic.

 

There are lots of Protestant children attending Catholic schools. True, tuition can be pricey but those parents like the school's structured system with emphasis on learning and not some of the disarray that public schools must deal with. I found your question about "special" classes(how to put word to my thought) kind of puzzling. Those theology type classes, I think, are a great outlet for young people to try to work through questions in their adolescent minds about the world they're about to step into, a situation the public schools can never put in their curriculum. And those classes are weighted just as heavy as any class toward their G.P.A.

Out of diocese tuition and fees at CovCath are $9,100 annually vs public schools zero. Don't need a calculator to figure the financial difference this heavy load would be for the next two years. I have been led to believe basketball will make no difference in determining a students eligibility for scholarship grants. That being the case, my prediction should a transfer happen, it will be to a quality public school.
